I hope that link processes properly.

It's a hat.

The hat is $48.

Now, that's a decent chunk of change. For comparison's sake, I have a Goorin Bros brown felt job, with a brim and a band. I paid...$35? On sale at Goorin. It's a substantial hat. Compare that with this hat. Brim, kinda weathered, great logo. But $48. For a ball cap.

Now, the label on that hat reads Akron Ohio on it. Obviously there's no other photo of the inside of the hat, so I'm going on the assumption that the Black Keys found someone to make hats in Akron. Made in the USA, with OSHA protections and minimum wage too.

If that's true, does that explain the price on the hat? If that's true, is that the real price for a hat made in America? If that's true, do I take a deep breath, buy the hat, and make a statement about what I'm willing to do to support economic endeavors that keep money in this country?

Yes. Yes to all of that. And it's what we're going to have to do to support our local industries, farms, and businesses. I don't want to buy books from Amazon when I have great local bookstores. I don't want to go to the supermarket when I can buy direct from farmstands. I want local infrastructure that works for my community. I'm going to make a concerted effort not to buy from chain stores if I can manage it.

Here goes nothing!
