Book Talk
There are a lot of things I'd like to post about. Things like my Yankees-filled weekend (Could I love Joba any more? I don't know, but I want to find out!), and last night's TV premiere bonanza (Could I love How I Met Your Mother any more? I don't know, but I'd like to find out.)
Unfortunately, I don't have time for that right now. I do, however, have to post this bit.
I have about 30 pages left, and my train pulled into my stop just as the hurricane was hitting in earnest. I left Janie and Tea Cake out in the elements! They were about to leave Motor behind in the house and keep going! I'm kind of flipping out here.
Never mind how disturbing Hurston's account of the hurricane and the days leading up to the storm were; about people choosing to evacuate or not evacuate. Having just watched KVille, the parallels that I found to accounts of Katrina I've seen were sort of staggering.
I have a feeling that this is going to make for a lively book club discussion.
