The season begins

I'm currently waiting on mom & dad so that we can head down to the beach club for the first time, as the season began yesterday!! Joy!!!

Sadly, it means I will be cleaning all day. Still, cleaning at the club > cleaning anywhere else. It's true.

I've been doing my best to try and take it easy this weekend. I'm pretty exhausted, I guess with the whirlwind of the last month or so I shouldn't be surprised, but I really, honestly feel worn out. So I'm trying to take it a bit easy.

Friday I hung out in Bryant Park with [livejournal.com profile] antheia, [livejournal.com profile] drvsilla, and [livejournal.com profile] redstapler before heading out for dinner and an evening on the town with [livejournal.com profile] redesigner. It was fun, but the least fun part was getting drenched by a cosmopolitan at one point. Ick. It was even funny, given how the group I was in was bitching about how the coverage/hype for the new Sex & the City movie is everywhere now, and to end the evening drenched in what basically amounts to Carrie Bradshaw barf was sticky irony, at least.

Yesterday I met up with [livejournal.com profile] teany for a successful mission at an otherwise corny street fair - I bought socks and a cover up I had my eye on. Then we had sandwiches at Chickpea and I walked her back to her place. I was told that the downtown F was not stopping at 23rd or 14th this weekend. All lies, apparently. It did, and I walked up to 34th for basically nothing. I had hoped to grab a snack, but the only non-pizza or fast food place was offering $8 sandwiches, so I went home. Lucky for me, Puck had decided to make risotto, so I was able to have a nice snack before heading to the folks for good company, Chinese take-out, several dvr-ed episodes of NCIS and a few hours of laundry before I passed out hard at 11pm. Mom was practically shoving me upstairs to bed. I feel a bit better today, but I pretty much collapsed. I don't know if it was the lack of sleep the night before or what, but I was so tired, it hurt.

I'm so, so, so excited about the beach today, I can hardly put it into words. Supposedly it's going to be even warmer tomorrow, but I'm not sure if it's swimming weather just yet. We shall see. If the parents decide against going tomorrow I may head to look at that weird scope thing by the Brooklyn Bridge, though I may save that for when J gets back from his weekend away.

Hope everyone is enjoying this long weekend!
