lol...my wannabe filmmaker suitemate is now watching Rat Race on her dvd player.

this is the one who teases me about watching Buffy, btw. *shakes head* Nice to know she makes her entertainment/cultural criticism from only the finest of sources.

Yeah, true. But why does she have to be so pretty?
Can't an ugly girl slay vampires? What about Willow? Why isn't she the vampire slayer?

Okay, the stock response to the "pretty blond" thing is the explanation Joss gave for the idea for the show: in horror movies, a blond girl always gets attcked in a dark alley or something by a bad guy... what if she fought back?

I tried to give that to her. She complained that the blonde cheerleader getting mauled is usually the best part of a horror movie. :P She has appearance issues, that's all. Most people who try to make intelligent arguments about image or 'typing' or general bitching about pretty people have self-esteem issues. Tis all.

but that's just what I think.

Okay, i can accept that she just has appearance issues, and if she insists on disliking the show there's really no arguing. I was just gonna be very sad and disappointed if you hadn't thought to invoke Joss's own explanation--but of course i should have known you better than thar. :)

0:) Of course. I always use Joss's explanations. Some people (like my roommate,Carly) actually became interested in the show after I used that explanation (she herself being a small brunette).

and you're right. there's no arguing. But I just found it ironic that she liked this Rat Race movie, and yet Buffy is 'stupid'.
