My So-called grrrrr.

So, I'm watching the episode of My So-Called Life entitled "Life of Brian," and:

I didn't remember exactly why I hated Angela until I saw this episode. Yes, she's self-centered, swoony, annoying, and completely obsessed with a boy with the intellect of shoe polish. But until she totally blows in on Brian's life and trashes his chance with Delia for reasons that I can't even FATHOM, just makes my blood get all boily. And never mind how big of an idiot Brian is - pining away for this total fucking idiot and blowing his chance with a perfectly nice girl just so he can make some play for Angela? GAH. I just want to throttle both of them. Not to mention the fact that Rayanne is a giant flaming bitch in this episode, too.

The only person who was allowed to have any dance-related angst in this episode is Rickie. Seriously.

omg I know!

Do you think that it was a blessing that the show ended when it did, that that fact makes it as incredible as it was. Like if it went on, it wouldn't have been so wonderful, or remembered as such?

You know? I don't know. I wish I had more episodes to figure that out. I think that if they could have kept up the same writing and acting levels then maybe we could have at least gotten a few more good seasons out of it.

I mean, Grey's was great its first season, completely awesome its second, then it's been meh. But those first two seasons were so worth it, right?

Heh. That's kind of why I think the show and the character are so brilliant. Angela can be hateful. I'd always assumed if the show went on we would have seen more of her maturing and swings between being self-centered and emo one episode and then amazing the next. In season 1, it's like we see the amazing Angela peeping through but then she acts like an idiot too.

That's a very good point - "So-Called Angels" is probably the best example about how good-hearted and amazing Angela can be (I think), and it would have been interesting to see her maturing. I know the character is only supposed to be 15, but she still pissed me off (even back then when the show was airing and I was about her age.) I so did not get what Brian saw in her.

I think Brian probably saw in Angela what she saw in Jordan, in that she liked the idea of him, but he was really a douche.
