A message to the facilities department

If you can't manage to get rid of the nauseating, migraine-inducing paint fumes, I will manage to open my window, despite the fact that you don't want us to open our windows.

Get rid of the stench, and I will happily shut it. I don't care that the maitenance floor needs painting - I need to be able to do my job without being ill. This is the easiest way.

UGH.

Also? They just upgraded a bunch of us to Microsoft Office 2007. I HATE THIS PROGRAM WITH THE FIRE OF TEN THOUSAND SUNS. It's like they tried to make it Mac-like, but only spent about 10 minutes in the Apple store playing with a Mac to study how it works. Microsoft Word 2007 is awful in a way I can hardly describe. We've all been groaning and ranting about it since this morning. AGH.

One of my friends teases me because I can't open .docx files from her. "Office upgraded ages ago! What's taking you so long?!"

Uh, the upgrade sucks? I'm going to keep using my Student 2003 version, thanks.

And good lord, isn't there an OSHA regulation about fumes? You just can't win on that this week...

SERIOUSLY. There's a reason I'm still using an old version of WordPerfect as my word processor. SRSLY.

(I have no idea. Window is staying open until the air improves. And the fresh air feels GREAT.)

They upgraded all the student computers in the labs to Office 2007 at the beginning of the semester, but failed to upgrade the Professors' computers. On the one hand, I'm glad, since I HATE Word 2007. On the other hand? It sucks because none of the students know how to do anything in Word 2007 and I spend most of our class time trying to help them figure out how to change the friggin' margins!
