Love that dirty water

This weekend, [livejournal.com profile] j_bkl and I are heading to the city of Chowdah and da Sahx and Hahvahd Yahd for a wedding. Thankfully, the aforementioned baseball team will be off in Philly that weekend, so I don't have to deal with Fenway crowds. But I'd love some suggestions from the Boston-savvy about fun things to do or eat. I'm hoping very much to see [livejournal.com profile] hermionesviolin if the stars align, and we are attending the rehearsal dinner as well as the wedding Sunday. I know about stuff like the Freedom Trail, Quincy Market, and the aquarium (just so I can ride the T and hear "next stop, Wonderland!" like the big lame, Brad Anderson-loving loser that I am). I'm hoping for a restaurant section or two, or stuff to avoid would be awesome. I'm Yelping like crazy, obviously.

(I also would love a tour of the Sam Adams brewery, obvs, but we may not have time.)

Other than that, I'm just getting ready to get going. I'm very excited!! This is J & my first vacation together, AND our first wedding as a couple, so I have many things to look forward to. I just wish the weather would frigging cooperate already.

The Aquarium is almost at the other end of the Blue Line from Wonderland -- though it'll probably say, "The destination of this train is Wonderland" if you take it from Government Center or State Street toward the Aquarium -- unless they're doing construction like they were last weekend and service terminates at the airport and then there's shuttle buses to Wonderland etc. (though the website doesn't list any advisories for the Blue Line ... and it does list shuttle bus service for the Mattapan Branch of the Red Line for this coming weekend, so that would indicate that if the Blue Line were doing weekend shuttle bussing again an announcement would be posted by now).

I'd actually enjoy doing the Freedom Trail with you as I haven't done it in ages, though I probably won't be free until mid-afternoon since the Pride Parade starts at noon and afterward I should spend at least a little time in City Hall Plaza since I know CWM has a table.

All good to know.

I will double check what time we have to be at the rehersal dinner. But even if we don't get to do the Freedom trail together, I'd be up for grabbing coffee/food somewhere at some point.

(I feel like I should buy myself a Streetwise Boston map or something.)

If you go to the Sam Adams brewery, look for [livejournal.com profile] gaztherat's picture on the wall.

Oh, I will. I'm not sure we will, though. I am psyched at the prospect of fresh-brewed Sam, though.

Fanueil Hall is awesome, with plenty of great buskers and good food. There was, last time I was there, a REALLY good Malaysian restaurant at one end; if it's still there, you should try it.

I'll keep that in mind. I'm not sure if I've ever had Malaysian food. I love Vietnamese, and there's a supposedly great Indonesian restaurant in Park Slope that I always meant to try, but I'll keep that in mind.

I had the mango chicken there. Green and ripe mango, red bell pepper, and chicken, all in the best sweet-and-sour-type sauce I've ever had, presented inside the mango shell.

SO GOOD.
