zyll just sent me this this morning. I am in shock. THEY ARE REMAKING THE LAST UNICORN!!!! Granted, the first version wasn't perfect, but still, am in shock. That was only my favorite movie ever for the first 7 years of my life.
This one is going to be a festival of CGI, not a musical, and even closer to the book. I don't know if the actors will be real or cg (although Shrek proved that could be done well). And we don't know who the Unicorn/Amalthea, Schmendrick, and Lir will be. At present, the cast (identified as voice actors) will be as follows:
King Haggard - Christopher Lee
Mommy Fortuna - Angela Lansbury
Captain Cully and the voice of the Skeleton - Rene Auberjonois
(pretty much the same people from the first film. And Christopher Lee playing yet another evil king...)
Molly Grue - Mia Farrow (a genuine surprise. Farrow was the Unicorn in the original, and I don't place her voice as Grue-ish. I would have gone with Kate Mulgrew, but that's just lil' ol me talking.)
*bounce bounce bounce bounce* Should be released between 2003 and 2004. *Shriek!*
