As I said on Twitter this morning, I am consistently amazed by my ability to fall UP the stairs. Yeah, you read that right. Up. Not down.

When [livejournal.com profile] quasisonic called to tell me more about her good news, she asked if I could please take care of Puck's garden while he was away. No problem. So, as I headed up to the roof to water his plants, I tripped over one of the stairs, and landed on my knees. Now, since I was walking in my usual rapid fashion, I slipped hard, and fell hard. My ankles bashed against the hard, marble stair with considerable force, as well. I think that my right ankle and left elbow and forearm had the worst of the impact, but I have some twisted muscles in my back, some scraped hands and some very sore knees to show for it as well. *sigh* I feel like I've been in a fight - not sure who won.

Speaking of fighting, J lent me the first season of Burn Notice. I'm about four episodes in and absolutely in love. Any Burn Notice fans out there? And I'm sure J will violently disagree with it, but in Burn Notice I see all the elements that I adored and miss from the Dresden Files TV show (a hot, snarky protagonist, quirky storylines, fun side characters). I'm currently blowing through Season 1 and hope to be caught up soon - thanks to a combined effort of iTunes and HULU.com. :)

Also, will someone please inform the weather, that it's currently the end of August, and not the end of September? I'm all for weather like this, but NOT when there's still TWO weekends left at the beach club. Just two. And the last thing that I want is two weeks of 90+ degree weather in late September, after the club closes, when such warm weather is basically useless to me, and therefore annoying.

Where did this summer go? It feels like this entire year is flying by!

I usually follow the weather like it's my job during beach season, so I knew that I had a nice day to look forward to. However, it came as a pleasant surprise to hear Pat Kiernan say, after delivering the forecast, "Looks like Saturday is going to be a perfect beach day!"

Heh. Damn straight. If you need me, I can be found on Beach 193rd street, in Breezy Point.

Time with [livejournal.com profile] redesigner was lovely last night, but neither of us were particularly impressed by our Restaurant Week dinner at Grayz. It was neither particularly bad nor particularly good, and the same could be said for the service. My favorite part of the meal honestly was my cocktail, a mix of cucumber, mint, and gin called The Badminton Cup. That, I might return for, but otherwise? Eh. Afterward, we found a pleasantly cheap, amusingly tacky, and all-around-nice bar-type place on restaurant row that features $5 cocktails during weeknight happy hour (which ends at 8). SCORE. Granted, I only had one, but I think we shall be making a return trip. (Yes?) It was like being in Disneyland, but the staff and atmosphere were so nice, I really liked it. In fact, they were nicer than the staff at Grayz!

I have my con tickets. ::BOUNCE:: Am very excited. (Damn, that shit is expensive, though!) Didn't go for the Kate Mulgrew photo op, not sure if that was a mistake. If it was, I'm sure it can be easily rectified - I have no doubt that the con promoters are eager to separate you from your money at every turn. But we did get the general admission tickets for the the Philharmonic presentation of "The Music of Star Trek" at the gala, which I think is going to be really neat.

Also? What the shit is up with moving Swingtown to Friday night? I got home just in time last night, and was looking forward to another installment of that craziness, but I was denied. DENIED!! I didn't watch Flashpoint out of protest.

But Mad Men premieres on SUNDAY. I am SO excited. I have been trying to avoid spoilers (except for one, since I cracked and begged J to tell me what he knew about what happened to Peggy, so). Have I mentioned how awesome it is to be dating someone who enjoys the same TV that I do? Because it is.

And now, a few more hours and then I'm off to the beach!

So, it was a pretty good weekend.

Friday was pure insanity. After working late on my summer Friday (::grumble growl mumble grumble::) but getting paid time and a half for it (yaye!), I ran home after running some errands, to shower and get all prettified to meet up with [livejournal.com profile] blergeatkitty, [livejournal.com profile] newzlynn and my friend Maya for our semi-regular Friday ritual of McCabe's and Crif Dogs. Only to discover that my shower? In pieces. Because it was improperly installed, it was flooding the 3rd floor, so they had to re-do it. It was supposed to be done a few weeks prior, but was delayed for a few reasons. Then, Friday was the only day the work could be started, so. At least, my landlady allowed us to use her bathroom in her own unfinished apartment in the meanwhile. The problem? She had forgotten to unlock the door, so cut to me running around for half an hour, and explaining/complaining to her confused husband about why I needed a shower NOW and he needed to let me in NOW, etc. I spoke to my landlady after I had showered and calmed down, and she said not to worry about it, and apologized profusely about the scheduling snafu. But still? So not on. Give a sister a chance to plan, man. I mean, really. This should all be over and done with by tomorrow, thank the powers.

Then there was alcohol and fried things and hot dogs and friends, so the evening vastly improved. We were later joined by [livejournal.com profile] leopard_lady & Sir Shakenfist, [livejournal.com profile] antheia, and a delegation of fangirls that I sadly didn't get to talk to at all, really. But it was a good time, and it was awesome to get to see [livejournal.com profile] newzlynn again after so long, as she's all kinds of awesome.

Saturday morning, my body decided that 6:35 was an EXCELLENT time to wake up. And fully awake, too. I only realized how frigging early it was after I'd been to the bathroom and potched around some. Le sigh. So I took it as an opportunity to watch Hex and tackle the first drawer in what will be heretofore known as The Great Purge of '06. If I hate it, it goes. It's not practical to hang onto otherwise. I did my shirts, and it really felt amazing to just toss things. I'm eager to tackle the next bits.

Saturday and Sunday were spent at the beach. I was concerned that when we had that utterly crap weather a few weeks back that my money would be wasted, but after this weekend, I feel like I've been on vacation, so if the summer holds up its end, I have a feeling this will be money well spent. I swam, I walked on the beach, I sat in the sun by the pool (under my spiffy new chair umbrella), read my book, talked and talked and talked to my mom, and groaned in agony at the Yankees with my dad. Also, I'd like to take the opportunity to wish my dad a happy fathers day (belated only on LJ!), because he's truly a wonderful and terrific father, and someone I genuinely like and like spending time with. I love you, Dad. :D

And now, back to the working.
