Apparently, I am not as free of klutziness as I would have liked to believe. An accidental collision between my printer and my elbow has resulted in a paper tray that isn't broken in the strictest sense, but I can't get the little thingamajig that popped off (unbroken, mind you) to pop back on. AAGH!
[ETA: It's back on. Whee!]

Also: I need a favor from someone with a decently fast internet connection. The networks, being the bastards that they are, cut into the last 4 minutes of Angel, with absolutely NO news whatsoever that couldn't have waited those 4 minutes, and so I didn't get to see the whole episode. So if someone would be willing to download the ep and snail mail it to me (we have dialup at home and NO, for the 1,456,987th time, I CANNOT download things like thatat work. ) I just want to know how it ended. That's ALL, and I don't think that's too much to fucking ask for. If they could wait 55 minutes, why would another 5 be SO hard? (don't answer that). *curses lots*

(incidentally, if I see Kaity Tong or Jim Watkins in the street, I am NOT responsible for what I may do.)

Incidentally, quasisonicLaura? You can do this too! Get the site, download the ep, burn it, share it with us, your loving family. I'll even reimburse you for the express shipping costs.

As for events of an international nature, I'm not discussing them here. It's my journal and I'll say (or not say) what I want to. Deal with it. Just because a person isn't blathering on about something, doesn't mean that they're not thinking about it. Anna told me something long ago, possibly back in the Dilations era, that I took to heart as sound advice, and never forgot. "If you feel something is private, don't fucking post it on the fucking internet!" There's a lot I talk about here, and lot I don't, or won't talk about, for just that reason. I consider this to be a public forum, no different than some kind of broadcast. So, as I wouldn't do if I had a tv or radio show, I'm not going to talk about things I don't feel informed enough, or that I don't think I have the whole story of, or just plain don't want to get in the middle of. I'm going to be reading and thinking and observing, I'm just not going to be talking . (Rumor has it that some people still think before they speak. I'd like to be counted as one of them.) I'll say something if and when I feel ready to, never before. I love my friends & family. and respect their beliefs and opinions, and more importantly, I would fight to the death to preserve their right to believe/say what they want. I hope that they love me enough to do the same.

Don't mistake my silence for ignorance.

That is all.

On books

I forgot to mention in my last post that I am currently reading The Boy Next Door by Meggin Cabot. My dear friends: iff you read & enjoyed Bridget Jones's Diary, Confessions of a Shopaholic, Sex & the City or any such similar work, you must read this. Seriously. I've been laughing out loud on the train since I started reading it yesterday. The characters are likeable, the narrative has a really quirky sense of humor, and the whole story is told through a succession of emails. And while I know that not everyone shares my deep love of epistulary fiction, it's made the book just that much more readable.

Also: I don't know what to do re: Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix. To preorder, or not to preorder? B&N or Amazon? Express so it arrives on the saturday it is published (they COULDN'T have set the onsale date for a weekday and made my life easier. Bastards) or save the $15+ and just wait for the end of the weekend? What to do? Fellow HP fans, what will YOU be doing?

Heh! I just snagged copies of On the Bright Side, I'm now the Girlfriend of a Sex God and Dancing In My Nuddy Pants from Louise Rennison's Georgia series. I realize that Knocked out by My Nunga-Nungas comes in between those, but Catherine lent me Angus, Thongs & Full-Frontal Snogging (the first book), and I suppose if I ask really nicely, she'll lend me that one, too. The books are great and take about a day (if that) to read, though I do want smack the main character on occassion. (Seriously? She and Mia from Princess Diariesought to hang out sometime. )

MUST stop with the free books. Even though I probably won't.

Okay, this is insane. I just got the last of the Georgia books I wanted, and the first book, so I now have the whole set of 4. and 4 more artsy, pretentious, literary trade paperbacks that I love so dearly. Heh.

making the grand total for today about 10 books. And I passed a bunch up. I had no idea that Harper publishes so much poetry.

(and bollocks! Cute guy-with-Biblical-name-I-can't-quite-remember was here, and I look like crap today!)

[ETA: Ahah! It was Jonah. ]
