It feels like I should be here.
Jun. 4th, 2004 02:21 pmFirstly, happy birthday wishes to
finbardivine!
Usually at this time on Friday between June and September I'm done for the day. Today, unfortunately, I have to cover my department, so I'm babysitting the phones and catching up on some work that would be greatly benefitted by the emptiness that is currently my office. But that can be done in a few minutes, I'm also taking this opportunity to post a bit in my journal.
First, I'm going to shill for a friend of mine. The amazingly talented
aprilmourning has started a community,
digitalbrooklyn, for his website of the same name. You should all check it out, as it promises to be really something. :)
Tonight is not about Brooklyn, though - I'm heading alll the way out to Astoria to the Bohemian Beer Garden.
penchantnyc would be so proud! < /sarcasm >. Should be fun. B will be there, along with the entire Sci-fi book club and probably a couple of other people as well. I just bought 18 cupcakes from Buttercup Bake Shop to take with me (as it is a Birthday Celebration), but those things are never a hard sell. Heh. Now, all I have to do is not get lost in the wilds of Queens. However, if I like what I see, this could bode well for the Great Move Out of 2004, due this fall.
Tomorrow is PoA, in glorious IMAX and with the excellent company of
blergeatkitty,
laughingirl and
alcestis (who will either instantaneously bond with
quasisonic over their mutual love of James Marsters or begin a blood feud to compete for his affections, whichever.)
Sunday is 'church' with
trebleahead. It's cap day at the stadium, so that should be fun. It's not going to be easy to watch Sori playing in another uniform, but I'll manage. I just hope it doesn't rain, and that if it doesn't, that I remember sunscreen this time.
I also should have mentioned that during my lovely dinner at The Delta Grill with
whtegrlwthehair on Monday, I spotted what I believe was 2/3 of Blink 182! I know it was definitely Mark (the cute one), not sure if the drummer was with him or if it was someone else, but I can't blame him for picking the restaurant - the food was terrific. Anytime I miss the things I ate in New Orleans, I'll have to pay that place a visit. It's a bit pricey, though, that's the only problem. They looked exhausted and in the mood for a quiet meal. I didn't disturb.
My mood theme seems to be screwed up somehow...I wonder if something went wrong with the imagehost. *sigh* Probably. I'll pick something else for now, I guess. *sigh*
You know what I don't love? How copy/paste doesn't seem to be working, and how this is preventing me from answering the duling Friday Fives. I will prevail, however. I also have to review Assassins! I have not forgotten.
