Q triumphant!!
Jun. 7th, 2004 12:23 pmThis post will contain lots of dancing. Parental discretion is advised.
Firstly: New Girl is going to be a New Mommy soon! She told me today! Congrats to her! *does the dance of being right* I KNEW IT!
Secondly: Avenue Q kicked Wicked's flat, lopsided ass at the Tony's last night!!! ::dance of glee:: It's SO nice to see fresh and original ideas being awarded, as well as taking risks.
quasisonic and I sang along to their performance.
Thirdly: Hugh danced in shiny pants...and
quasisonic & I quoted
blergeatkitty's review of Boy From Oz when he did so.
Who needs the awards? Couldn't it just be Hugh Jackman & friends present Broadway? Hugh could sing & dance a lot. I nearly died laughing during the Sarah Jessica Parker on stage with him bit - and I think she would have killed him if there weren't so many witnesses.
plus? John Tartaglia (Rod from Avenue Q) + Hugh Jackman = Comedy Gold. :D
And did anyone else notice how Idina Menzel totally blew the last note of "Defying Gravity" during her perfomance? Jesu. I still think that either Tonya Pitkins, Donna Murphy or especially Stephanie D'Abruzzo should have won over either of the Wicked Witches, but oh well. It's still up there as possibly the worst musical I've ever seen, barely squeaking by Beauty & the Beast. It deserved the wins for costume and set design, but nothing else. See my full review here.
Assassins, on the other hand, deserved every award it won.
( and now, for that review. )
My review of PoA will come later. Suffice it to say - me likey!! Now, back to work...
