An update, of sorts.
Aug. 30th, 2004 02:59 pmNot very much to report. This weekend was mostly spent at the beach and/or trying to relax, although I had a fantastic time at the Polybe & Seats Speakeasy on Friday. I only wish I didn't get quite so warm & tired so quickly, and could have stayed longer. Rumor has it that there might be another one in October, so I'm going to try to hit that up. Especially since you get so much for $5, including a Gertrude Stein work that actually made some sort of coherent sense. At least how I interpreted it.
I also got to see the first of two movies I got out of the library (this whole reserve-online, receive an email when its in and take it out for a week FOR FREE thing rules my universe). My Life Without Me was beautiful, moving, and had a wonderful soundtrack. I can honestly say that I cried at the end. ( More on the movie )
Hopefully tonight I'll have the time to watch You Can Count on Me, which I saw part of a few weeks ago. It's on so many "Best" lists that I'm somewhat intimidated as to whether or not I'll enjoy it. Lately I don't want realistic films with complicated endings that mimic the realities of life - I want things that end happily and simply, damnit. *sigh* But still, Laura Linney is one of the most underrated actresses around, and I've loved her ever since Dave and The Truman Show (now THERE'S one for Movieoke!!)
Problems with the DJ continue. After a very long call to Dell Dial-A-Moron last night, I was informed that it's my USB ports, and probably my OS, causing the problem. And since my burner still refuses to work, I'm wondering if I have to acquiesce to this. Still, my digital camera & Axim are still fine, so I have no idea what to think. I just know I need to get my burner working so that I can do a nice full backup, and then do whatever needs to be done. *sigh*
Otherwise, it's quiet, and the day has been going by rather without incident here. I went to Tiffany's at lunch, and looked around. It was nice, but I wasn't terribly impressed. The bathrooms were nice, though. I was also disappointed to discover that Asprey no longer had the tiara I liked so much on display.
Still trying to determine if it's mean reds or blues.
