Yeah. We all heard what happened, I'm not going to get into it.
Am I disappointed? Well, fucking DUH. But I'm not surprised. I had this bad feeling when they lost game four, but everyone told me I was crazy.
I'm contemplating changing my name to Cassandra. :(
Still, I don't think this will all be in vain, provided it sends Emperor Steinbrenner the message that you shouldn't be trying to acquire old geezer pitchers with their best seasons behind them - you need to develop young talent more. For every one Roger Clemens, there's 4 Kevin Browns. And like Zoot said to me this morning, the Sox play small ball, and not home run ball, which is what the Yanks were trying to do. Which is ironic, considering the fact that the Yanks perfected small ball during their 90s dynasty. *sigh*
I'm sad, but I'm grateful to my team, whom I love NO MATTER WHAT, and the amazing season they gave me. (That I got to see thanks to
trebleahead). They played hard, on lots of injuries, and lots of obstacles that would have made a team with less heart fold like a pair of pants mid-season, no matter what the payroll. I also know that I have a lot of ecstatic friends right now, friends who love their team dearly and were also with them thick & thin, and are enjoying themselves right now, and rightfully so.
Meanwhile, my guys are going to take a much-needed rest, get the surgeries they need, play with their kids, spend time with their families, whatever. It's been too cold for baseball these last few days anyway, with a chill in the air I've not been expecting for a couple of weeks. It felt like a sign, somehow.
Remember: the curse ain't over till you've got the ring. And it looks like you might be facing Clemens, who's having one of his best seasons (and post seasons) ever. Good fucking luck - both of those National League teams look really tough and strong.
I didn't watch last night. I went out after work, bought my sword fromHitori Hanzo Halloween Adventure, and then wound up going to bed at 10. This morning I feel a lot better than I did yesterday - even if you fail, there's a certain comfort to resolution; you know where to go from here.
And that's all I have to say about that.
