Rotten Luck

This weekend was all about rotten luck.

*Friday was [livejournal.com profile] unsimilar's birthday shindig. Lots of fun, but I got stuck at work late, which delayed my trip home to change, and consequently made me late to the party.

I did make it though, and had a lovely time. During dinner, though, my throat started to bother me. Then it really started to bother me, and the room got really hot. I didn't want to worry the guys I was with, who, being the gentlemen that they are, insisted on driving me home anyway (we were in Bay Ridge, and the R was screwed up this weekend). By the time I got home, I felt like my entire throat had swollen up in a matter of half an hour. I dragged myself up the stairs and was greeted by [livejournal.com profile] quasisonic and Puck. And a good thing, too, because when I came through the door, I got more than a little lightheaded. My sister helped me into bed.

Saturday morning I was up at my usual work-time due to Time Warner's scheduled arrival time of 8 am. Ugh. They finally *did* arrive at 10:30, and an hour later, the cable and internet were fixed. Hallelujah. Some connectors were bad, apparently, and since replaced, everything is as good as it was last year, when it first got fixed. I celebrated by watching On the Waterfront and arguing with Laura that I'd be well enough to go to [livejournal.com profile] nemesisbecoming's birthday, despite another near-fainting spell, low-grade fever, and inability to eat anything that wasn't soup or oatmeal. I lost. We ordered Chinese, watched The Big Lebowski, and then I slept for a long, long time.

I felt a bit better, yesterday, though. I took a shower and snuck out for a little bit, because the stir-craziness was starting to majorly affect my sanity. I'm not someone who deals with being sick well - and I deal with being housebound even less well. I have no idea what this lovely little thing is - a cold, the flu, some weird hybrid - all I know is that it ebbs and flows. Last night I snuck out to a super bowl party, determined to convince myself I was a)completely better, and b) not going to be a complete lamer all weekend long, I felt totally fine right up until I went to sleep. But not before I, like a total moron, accidentally deleted the episode of Grey's Anatomy that my sister made sure to accurately dvr for me. Thankfully my mom has it, and will be transferring it to tape for me. Again, what the hell is wrong with me?

This morning? This morning the crappy is back. I'm going to try going to work for awhile and see how I do. I was supposed to go to my first Magic Garden party, which I was really excited about. The Magic Garden is a group made up entirely of native-born New York City people - you even need to pass a test to get in. [livejournal.com profile] damiella and I were going to go, and we've been talking about it all week. *sigh* I suppose there's always next month. :/

Now I'm going to try to get dressed and see about making it in. Blah.

Things making me feel better:

1. Twix.

2. Further confirmation that imaginary boyfriend Mark Ruffalo was involved in a minor dustup at Chris Penn's funeral. Apparently, some paparazzo snuck past the gates to snap pictures of the family Penn at the grave, which Ruffalo took exception to. So, he took the guy's memory card! He didn't smash the camera or punch anybody - he just took the memory card. (which the photographer probably has several of, and they're not as expensive to replace as say, a camera.) Because he thought, silly man, that the funeral of a loved one taken way too young should be a private affair. The photog, of course, got all snippy and filed some sort of charges, but whatever. Kudos to [livejournal.com profile] lauralatham & the gang at We Love Celebs for breaking this first, though. It made my entire weekend.

3. Ivy. The band, not the plant. I've been recently obsessed with two of their songs: "Ocean City Girl" and "Edge of the Ocean," which have been heavily featured on Veronica Mars lately. So, I checked, and sure enough, emusic had their entire catalogue. I downloaded their 2 most recent albums, and I highly reccommend.
