Fools and Phones.
Apr. 1st, 2009 10:23 amHappy April Fool's Day, Everyone!!
As I am still extremely proud of last year's prank and the reaction it got, I am not plotting or planning anything for April Fool's this year. Granted, I wanted to send a memo to the Editorial group stating that due to limited space in the contract room, we are now only allowing them to sign Authors or Artists with last names beginning with certain letters, but I am honestly worried that too many people would have fallen for that one. Still, my boss got a good snicker out of it, which is the point of this entire day anyway. Smiles and snickers all around.
Bacon, however, is always worth paying attention to, no matter the day.
Otherwise, things are good.
j_bkl and I yet again took advantage of our Optimum Rewards and saw I Love You, Man for free last night. It was so funny, I would have gladly paid for it, though.
The only thorn in my side right now is Verizon Wirelss. My phone is starting to show its age a tiny bit, and I would like to upgrade to something with a Qwerty keyboard and maybe a nicer screen, perhaps a few improved features. You'd think that would be easy, but no. Verizon is currently still under the impression it's 2003, and the only way to get a phone with a keyboard is to pay for a Blackberry, which
tehdawgfather did a pretty good job of convincing me that I don't need. They also have a couple of "smartphones" that require more expensive plans to be worth it, and these are pretty bulky and expensive on their own. Naturally, I found a phone that I love that is not offered by Verizon: the LG Lotus. I saw a purple one in Best Buy, and it's just fantastic. It's about the size and width of a compact, full keyboard, great screen, really pretty design (especially the purple). Naturally, Verizon does not offer it nor can it tell me when or if it'll be offering anything new - even though they are rumored to be offering some nice new ones soon, including the LG Lotus clone the Samsung Strut. Until then, I have to wait it out, and I'm pretty annoyed. I'm not sure if I'm annoyed enough to get an iPhone, though. They're expensive, often stolen, and it's a whole lot of computer for one phone. *sigh*
