Giving Thanks
Nov. 27th, 2009 01:05 pmI hope everyone had a great Foodmas, whether they fully celebrated it or not.
I've seen a lot of posts around here about what people are thankful for. And honestly? I agree with what they've all said. I'm thankful for food and shelter and clean water and medical science. For clean clothing and washing machines and technology and being employed and cars and the glorious freedom to make my own choices. All good things.
I'm thankful for all of my friends and loved ones.
And also? I'm thankful for the Internet.
Why? Why the internet? Why are you thankful for that,
offbalance?
I'm thankful because the internet takes away stupid barriers of physical distance and social awkwardness. I'm thankful for the internet and the way it brings people together. The internet has allowed me to meet and befriend some really incredible people, both locally and around the world. Some of the people I care for most in this world were brought to me via pixels. Either I met them via the internet, or our relationships were enriched there after meeting very briefly and exchanging journal names or whathaveyou.
I have a large group of wonderful people in my life that I might never have known were it not for the internet. So, I am grateful, very, very grateful for it.
::hugs:: to all of you for being here through the years. You all mean a lot to me, I hope you know.
