offbalance: (Obama - hope)
-I voted today! (And got the foursquare badge to prove it!) I know the badge thing is silly, but never in my history as a voter did I ever get an “I Voted Today!” sticker, and I always wanted one, so this is kind of a trade off for me.

- The pollsters in my district exhibited new frontiers in incompetence today. I could understand being confused at how the new ballots work (which actually didn’t happen), but I had to tell them my name FOUR FREAKING TIMES before they could get it right so I could sign in. I mean, I don’t think I have a terribly complicated last name, and I was doing my best to annunciate and be patient, but even the other person working the table in my district lost it at the woman who was trying to take my name down. And then, she couldn’t remember where in the alphabet D came. It was a little exasperating for 7:40am.

-It was extra exasperating because I think I woke up feeling like I’d gotten into some kind of fight while unconscious. My body has been rather ill-behaved for the last two-weeks, and the bad behavior continues. I even tried to punish it at the gym last night, which actually went well. I was even rewarded for my trouble by the most random sighting – I saw Sarah Palin of all people in the elevator on my way out of the building. It was bizarre. (her fact looked all weird and puffy and frozen. So either she was sick or got a nice big shot of Vitamin Botox before going on air. ) And no, you wiseasses – I didn’t do anything stupid or get arrested. I just tried not to look directly at her, lest I be turned to stone.

-Also, How I Met Your Mother was astoundingly awful last night. Mind-bendingly so. I haven’t seen a show decline this rapidly since the X-Files. Pull the damn plug already!!

-I have started watching Community, though. And Community is as good as HIMYM has been awful. It’s hilarious. I saw “Spanish 101” last night, and I’m going to be catching up on episodes as much as possible. I’m trying to use it as incentive to get to the gym. There are new elliptical machines that you can plug an ipod into and watch whatever shows you like on the screen instead of just whatever is on tv at that moment. Plus, the average episode of Community is about 22 minutes, which is about what I’d like to be doing for cardio. I am hoping to get there soon, then in a few months push up to the 42 minutes it takes to get through an episode of Friday Night Lights, which I also have on my ipod. But first things first.

-I was also recently vindicated by the news that Verizon will be getting the iPhone in early 2011. I’m due for a new phone next year, but I’m unsure if I want to go that route. For one, I’ve heard the 4s are delicate, and I can be a spectacular klutz. Also, I at least want to wait a few months to see how the new technology works in the phones. The ATT iPhones work on a GSM system, but Verizon’s network is CDMA, which is new. So I’m curious to see how these things play together. Still, I’m happy as hell I never switched!! But the debate of Android vs. iPhone is one I can’t ignore. The only Apple product I own is an ipod. I’m also a huge google user, and I’ve heard that the google interface with the iPhone isn’t as good as it is with the Android. That, and my sister just got a shiny new LG Ally that’s pretty neat. I’ve also had my eye on the Droid Incredible for some time now.

- On the one hand, riding a horse to school is kind of funny. On the other, in this completely litigious society of ours, I'm not sure the school overreacted.
