offbalanceI just got an email from Professor Rainbolt, informing me that little old moi has won the biggest award that our journalism dept gives, the Ronald R. Schafer Memorial Scholarship. Given only to graduating seniors, it's a pretty big deal. He said it was due to my enthusiasm, my journalism gpa, my extensive involvement in the program and extracurricular activities, and my application essay, which I may post when I get back to school. There's also a cash prize, which was $400 last year, and no one knows what it'll be this year, but still, an added bonus. It's not the pulitzer, but I really wanted this. I'm so proud. 0:-) I'm home now and exhausted, looking forward to a long night of airconditioned sleep in a comfortable bed.
