So I just got 'recognized' or whatever by the English department. Which is sort of a graduation. You get your name read, they give out awards and people make speeches.
One of the speeches was okay, but the guy is a marblemouth. I can barely understand him in casual conversation, let alone a speech. The other speech was boring, pretentious, long-winded, and tedious the way that Anna says it. Because she gives it extra emphasis. I can't honestly believe that she won some kind of honors in the english department. Her speech had no segues whatsoever, and needed to be edited really badly. So that kind of sucked, but she's from the English side of the ceremony (Journalism was there, too) so quel surprise. Had the guy who did the journalism speech had some vocal therapy, he would have given a great speech.
And I got my award, which was pretty cool. I hadn't said much about it, I guess, because some of the people I'm friendly with were surprised and stuff, so that was cool. Professor Rainbolt said a few nice things about me, too. The best part was after I got my 'diploma,' several teachers hugged me and got all misty to see me on my way. It was pretty cool.
Then we had dinner, Lydia was here and it was much fun.
Soooo tiiired. But I exchanged gifts with Carly and Tim...Tim got me a cheesecake from Harry & David, and Carly got me a margarita glass & salt, these nifty hair clips I like and a sticker that says "It's not easy being a princess but SOMEBODY has to do it."
and she was SOOO happy about the cookbook.
Not going out drinking tonight. I'm going to the big ceremony in the morning, I've been running around for days and I'm so Goddamn tired I'm going to collapse. Need bed.
So why do I still feel like a loser? *sigh* Geez, this bar compulsion.
I did hang out with Carly & Tim & family at the Marriot on Wolf road...woooo...Posh is SUCH an understatement. Maybe if I'm working by Laura's graduation I'll get mom & dad to stay there, my treat. But the Courtyard on Washington is so damn convenient...
babble babble babble...
