It sounds like you made a good impression. Everyone else has explained the letter well enough. Shar, don't give up just yet. You have great credentials, but you're in a competitive field in a competitive city. Success won't be instant, but it will be yours. A lot of people have faith in you, including me. As trite as it sounds, it's true. Don't shortchange yourself. Someone is sure to recognize your skills and potential one of these days. In the meantime, why not find something to make your applications look better? Since my field isn't yours, I have no idea what that might be, but I know that when people get rejected from med school, they're told to improve how they look on paper. I hope it's a possibility for you, and that you give it a shot.
