Am apparently an action hero, according to [livejournal.com profile] antheia. *gigglefit at the very idea* The Divine Miss A and I ventured up to Philly yesterday for a day of nonstop fun with the fellowslashers. We got to see [livejournal.com profile] ladymoonray again (hope you had a good flight and that you had a good time), and I got to meet such luminaries as [livejournal.com profile] jenfr and [livejournal.com profile] mcee and [livejournal.com profile] alexandriabrown. SO very much fun was had. After we met up with everyone in Independence State Pris..er..Park, and the pictures were snapped (Goddess only knows how the one of me & Kate squared will come out). Then [livejournal.com profile] jenfr, [livejournal.com profile] ladymoonray,[livejournal.com profile] antheia and myself walked up what I believe was Market Street, stopping so that I could taste my first authentic Phily Cheesesteak (typo=cheesecake. I have a one-track mind). YUM. Then a looooooong walk to their hotel ensued, over a bridge that looked very much like Blackfriar's. After meeting up with a (fairly large) portion of the con to go and see xXx, 12 of us piled into 2 cars (ooofa). On the way there I was one of the support beams for a lovely short-haired lady whose name I do not remember (Note:in getting 4 people in the back of [livejournal.com profile] alexandriabrown's small car, the 4th laid across the three seated members). I gained my action-hero status on the way home. (more on that in a moment). Much giggling ensued as we ventured to the theater, where the matinee price for tickets was $5.50 (oh yeah).

xXx wasn't my choice of film, but I went out of curiosity. Vin Diesel reminds me of a St. Bernard, and didn't really do it for me. (Well, it was the theater's fault. They showed a Jason Lee trailer before the movie. Now, how the hell is Vin Diesel supposed to measure up to the man who was BRODIE? It just can't be). His voice turned me off, and there's something about his face that I just find unnattractive. Bad as he is, I'll take Russell Crowe instead any day of the week. However, as an action star *puts critic hat on* Vin showed promise and that perhaps he's been visiting the Bruce Willis school of action stardom. They emote in similar ways, which I am saying as a compliment (I like many of BW's movies. Okay?). The film itself was better-than-average action fare, with some Badass Motherfucker thrown in for good measure (Samuel L. Jackson baby, yeah.) *takes critic hat off* (also,XANDER? WTF? That name would NOT have been cool before 1997. Thank you, Joss Whedon.)

After the film we went next door to Friendly's, where (as a table of 12) there was so much shouting, so much laughter. My half of the table ([livejournal.com profile] jenfr, [livejournal.com profile] mcee, [livejournal.com profile] antheia, [livejournal.com profile] alexandriabrown, [livejournal.com profile] ladymoonray and a few others whose names escape me, including the one who spoke of growing her own Jew [you know who you are]) had to shush the other half a few times, unfortunately. That is, when people weren't telling stories that made me laugh so hard I almost fell out of my chair. Plus, Ice Cream! (Also: could anyone who was on my side of the table, who was not mentioned and who does have a lj please comment and tell me? Thanks!)

After the restaurant, we were re-loading the 12 of us back into the 2 cars (more or less) and due to the fact that I was the shortest, I was elected to be the lay-across fourth. [livejournal.com profile] alexandriabrown (who was driving) must have thought I was in the car already when I was merely attempting to get in, began to back up with me near the car and the rear passenger door still open. So rather than yell wait or somesuchother that made sense, instead I (literally) dove across the three inhabitants of the back seat, landing face-first on top of them, legs dangling out the (still unclosed) door. The car was stopped by the laughing shouts, I righted myself, the door closed, and I was referred to as xXx for the remainder of the ride. Hee.

Then we hung out at the hotel for an hour or so, and I spoke to Lisa and Sarah, Buffy fanatics from Ontario. (squee!). After sufficient Dawn-bashing and Tara-mourning, Lisa told us of her adventures (and purchases) at the nearby Star Trek/Buffy/general sci-fi con. Fun fun. Neither of them had LJ, I think, sorry to say.

Came home after a fairly short bus ride (they show movies on buses now? I got to watch (most of) Ocean's 11! whee). Got home about 9:30, after navigating the labrynth under the port authority that takes me to the times square Q station. Watched SATC on tape, showered, watched a little bit of Sportscenter 25K, then went to sleep. (Will watch rest on tape tonight).

*collapses* What fun. Almost makes me want to seek out a Buffy community that exists in a similar vein. Anyone know of any? I'm curious. (I'll be turned to the darkside yet, I'm afraid).

Now, off to really doing work rather than pretending to. Only 4 more mornings left until...I have to play mover >_<. *sigh* At least *I* am not moving. NYC, you are STUCK with me!! muahahahahaaa!

www.craigslist.com (or www.craiglist.com) might be what you're looking for.

Speaking of kitties, there's a house on my walk home from the bus that just had kittens. I was looking at them sleep today and a lady offered me one. Sadly, the fact that the little furball would practically put me in the hospital if I got closer than 5 feet away from it prevented me from taking it home. It was really cute tho...

yeah, i noticed your dream...
it's what my kitty did to me this morning, she sat on my pillow by my face purring.
and I thought you were going to get shots so the allergies weren't as bad.

well, my throat doesn't immediately close anymore. Now it takes up to 3 hours, and my eyes swell shut and my skin gets rashy, even though I don't stop breathing right away. *sigh* Baby steps, really. Baby steps.

well, it is a start...
too bad because you'd really like my kitty, she's tiny and black and really pissy at me for having moved her.
*chuckle*
I have to get your cell number sometime and program it into mine.

I'm sure I would like her too. I generally adore cats, and if not allergic I would probably have at least 2.

I will give it to you soon...just not on lj. I've been keep meaning to email you and work's been crazy. I suck, this is not news.

eh, but you suck in a good way ;)
I'm sure once I get the new yellow pages I'll be busy looking for a job.
But at least I'm down here...or it could be college all over where we say we're going to get together and it never happens...at least we both have verizon phones.

Steph was the name of the woman on our laps; her LJ is under "sweiil".
I doubt I'll ever forget your leap. :) Perfect timing, really, and I doubt we would have thought it so funny had it not been xXx that we'd seen! Glad you're not suffering any psychological trauma from said incident.

No! The day was 10 tons of fun. :) Hell, I'm happy that no one suffered PHYSICAL damage from my feat of daring-do. And I'm not sure if it was the movie, the sugar rush from consuming friendly's, or just the giddiness of the large group that made us all so prone to laughter, but it was great.

(and thanks for the info! which were you?)

Hmm, dare I say I think it was the sugar, the jacked-up hormones, the collective lack of sleep (by that time, at least for most of us, I do believe *I* hadn't slept more than 5 hours ONCE in the past four nights), AND the giddiness? :)
Me? I'm Ariel, the one who was supposedly camping in new hampshire. I'm from maine. :)
