offbalance: (all you need is love)

Congratulations to [livejournal.com profile] teany & [livejournal.com profile] selftoken, who got married this weekend in Southampton. It was a beautiful wedding, and the weather cooperated (thank God). [livejournal.com profile] teany walked down the aisle to this song, which I adored (I need to buy the White Album already, don't I? It's a huge hole in my Beatlemania.)

The Couple:

Aren't they gorgeous?

I also had the honor of reading a poem that I was asked to write for the occasion.

Two Hands
Two hands on a clock
meet only so often
The little one stays on the number
waiting for the big one to take the long way around.

He never means to keep her waiting
the time passes him by
he loses track
not realizing
an appointment
a dinner
an hour;
there's always so little,
and so much
of time.

She is patient as she can be
when he's sometimes late
because he was also patient once
when she kept him waiting,
not seeing
at first
what could be there
not knowing
if this was a time
when she could trust the feeling
that heartbreak wasn't coming around again.

The reward for patience was love.
Slow and strong, like the march of time,
it came as quickly as the close of a happy hour,
and as slowly as the spring.

Two hands on a clock
meet at the same moment only so often
never chasing
as one follows the other.

They do not need their hands pressed together to feel close.
They are partners in time,
who go around together,
connected in the center,
two parts of the same moment
and not waiting any more.

The poem was a surprising success - people laughed and cried, and I was overwhelmed by compliments during the cocktail hour. (well, compliments and the rather tasty canapes that were floating around). I was really appreciative of all the well-wishes for me, I thought I'd barely register as part of the ceremony, but it was nice to know that it touched people. ::beams::

And now, even more pic-spam.

Next season, on Fox... (seriously - from L-R, here's [livejournal.com profile] alcestis, [livejournal.com profile] tacologic, [livejournal.com profile] tehdawgfather, [livejournal.com profile] laughingirl, [livejournal.com profile] blergeatkitty, [livejournal.com profile] kip3f, [livejournal.com profile] quasisonic, and Puck).

I love this picture of [livejournal.com profile] alcestis perusing the seating chart. We were all at table 10, which looked like this:

This was our view. The wedding was at a vineyard, and it was an absolutely goregous setting. I felt like I was in a wedding in a movie, that's how beautiful it was!

The Bride & Groom were nice enough to pose for a few pictures after the ceremony:

(my personal favorite)

I kind of wish my bangs behaved, because this is a really cute picture of [livejournal.com profile] quasisonic & me.

An equally cute picture of [livejournal.com profile] blergeatkitty & [livejournal.com profile] kip3f.

Then we had the first dance:

And sat down to dinner:

The Bride and groom then made the rounds during the appetizers:

You can see a lot more of [livejournal.com profile] teany's dress in these, I just hope it conveys how beautiful it was in person.

After dinner came dancing. And lots of fun, and champagne and wine and cake and all that good stuff.

And finally,

"No, Kip - THESE are Jazz hands!!"
"Ohh."

Tomorrow is back to work, overtime, and the start of a busy-ass week. Wish me luck, kiddies.
