Day of Milestones.

As it turns out, there are three things (very close to my heart) that got their start on September 8.
In chronological order:
On this day in 1966, Star Trek had its debut.
In 1979,
blergeatkitty had hers.
And the following year, Carly made her entrance into the world.
As a result, today is a very important day on my calendar. I'm sure it was no mere coincidence that two of my very closest friends share a birthday, but it still surprises me when I think about it.
Birthday wishes are also going out to Philanthropist Extraordinaire
laughingirl, who turns 25 (again) tomorrow!! (Lisa it's your birthday...Happy Birthday Lisa...)
Haven't posted much in the last couple days, so I will summup:
1. Was given the glory of a free pen on Wednesday, while on my way out of the subway. The pen, called a Bic Duo, is part pen, with a built in highlighter. And lo, it is glorious. I highly reccommend. I would have given my eyeteeth for such an item in college.
2. I finally decided to turn the jar of coins that was holding a spot on my desk into the penny arcade at Commerce Bank. That jar turned out to have housed $28.24, which largely funded last night's festivities. Whee. I'm going to continue keeping track of my change in such a fashion. It appears to be profitable.
3. Last night was sushi for dinner and a viewing of The Illusionist at Cobble Hill's $6 nite. In attendance :
antheia,
ginpalace + Chan,
leopard_lady,
infinitehippo + his gf Carin, and Katja (who did not join us for the movie). Very good times.
4. I absolutely loved the movie. The cinematography and art direction were sublime, Jessica Biel can actually act a little (which was stunning), and Ed Norton and Paul Giamatti were their usual wonderful selves. Rufus Sewell, too. I would have felt like I'd gotten my money's worth had I paid full price for it. That's what I like in a movie: a good story. There were some discussion-worthy bits in it, but it's better than anything I've seen in awhile.
Coming up to see are Hollywoodland (opening today) and The Black Dahlia (next week).
And now to work.
