Merry Christmas, Everybody!!

offbalanceYou know, I was concerned about Christmas this year, as I really wasn't feeling all that Christmassy, the way I usually do. I listened to the music and tried to decorate and do all the stuff that puts me in the mood, but it only helped a little.
However, the last 24 hours really have done wonders.
We went out to Long Island to visit my wonderfully crazy cousins and meet my newest little cousin. She fits right in with the family, as she likes to yell as much as everyone else. ;) Still, when she wasn't overwhelmed by new people, she's a sweet, happy little baby who I got to hold. So. cute. We got a nice visit in, and got to go out to dinner at a nice restaurant in Mineola (I think?) called Jonathan's. It was interesting. There were 13 of us (14 if you count the baby in its carrier). The reservation had originally been for 9, but my aunt called to change it a few days ago. When we arrived, the following conversation occurred:
My Aunt: W Family, party of 14.
Hostess: Um...I have you down for 5.
My Aunt: Uh, yes. 5 o'clock.
Hostess: I had you down for 5 at 9.
Manager: .... (takes out other reservation book)
My Aunt: ::trying not to lose it:: Whaaat?
Manager: (to Hostess) That's NINE people at FIVE. See? And there's a plus mark here with more people they're adding.
Hostess: You mean THAT number is the TIME and THAT OTHER number is how many people??
Manager: ::facepalm::
We were seated shortly. Not sure how long THAT girl is going to keep her job, though. WTF.
Then I came back to my parents' house, watched the episode of Medium that I'd missed the other week (I'd already caught up on Supernatural. Holy crap!!!) And then, after some marvelous cookies that my mom made, went to sleep. Cut to this morning, where I received some AWESOME gifts:
Laura got me Collection #3 of Strangers in Paradise
Puck got me this really amazing painting, which I'll post pictures of after I have it properly framed.
and, from my parents, I got a beautiful new purse, and a pair of ice skates. So, look for me to be a fixture on local rinks for the rest of this winter. Wheeee!!
I wanted to post, though, just to say that the best gift that I've ever gotten is something that I get all year, and from all of the people I love and who love me. Having you all in my life? Best thing ever. ♥ to you all, a Merry Christmas if you celebrate it, and if you don't well, happy Monday. :)
