offbalance: (my gift is my song)
AAAH! They're testing the fire alarms in the building. Granted, I'm all for safety and alarm-testing (especially when it doesn't involve actual drills when it's yucky and raining outside) but this shrill beeping just scared the crap out of me. But they test and test and retest all the emergency systems, which is another plus in their column.

Went out last night with Jeff, his friend Lisa and her boyfriend Andy. Jeff and Lisa have been friends for ages, but for some reason, she and I had never met. Which is unfortunate, because she's awesome. She's hillarious, fun, and a fan of Buffy, Angel, Farscape, and most importantly of all, the Yankees. We went to a little place on E19th street called Duke's that wasn't bad, food & drink wise. Fun-wise, we had a great time. Things are being put in motion to do this again after Lisa is done with the CPA exam, so yeah.

Lisa and I were talking a bit about living with your parents (which she does, in a pretty sweet apartment in the union square area), and it was nice to meet someone who was of a similar opinion about the whole living at home situation. (It's a great deal being at home, but sooner or later, you want your own space).

Still, with offers to find a place from friends popping up, as well as an offer for a share in the Slope (pretty much exactly where I want to live) that I could totally afford from someone at my company, the 'my own apartment song' keeps popping into my head. However, the reality of owning one's own place is cheerfully reminded by such down-to-earth friends as [livejournal.com profile] antheia, in both its perks and problems. So there I am. *sigh*

Warning: deep thoughts ahead. LJ-cut for your convenience. )
