It's amazing how much time a 3-day weekend promises to be and how little time it winds up being.

Friday I picked up my amazing new pink glasses (insert requisite joke about rose-colored glasses here). Will post pictures as soon as I take them, it seems as though my face has decided to have a breakout. :/ After I got my glasses, mom, [livejournal.com profile] quasisonic and I headed out to the Gateway Center to do a little bit of shopping.

a little bit turns into a lot )

Friday night was the fantastic birthday celebration of the lovely [livejournal.com profile] nrrrdygirl. I got to meet many of her friends, and I now understand why she so often runs home on weekends to be with them -- they're just that cool. :) The club we went to, Climate 8, was just marvelous. I highly reccomend. I haven't been out dancing in about 1,000 years, so it was fun to go and dance and drink and have a generally good time. However, I was reminded of the fact that I don't see Diorella nearly often enough, and that plans will hopefully be made soon to remedy this. :) The only part that sucked is that it took about a year to get home on the train, thanks to the marvelous MTA. bleh.

The rest of the weekend? Didn't do anything. It was lovely. Today we had a little celebration for my dad, in honor of Dad's day. He watched his copy of Nemesis that Laura got for him, and greatly enjoyed it. I gave him a little piece of paper detailing my present on it, which Amazon fucked up and hopefully will arrive tomorrow. Grr. But he was still excited. :)

And even though it's late, I want to wish a very special Happy Father's Day to my dad, who's really the coolest dad a person could have. I feel very fortunate to have a dad who is always interested in hearing about the minutiae of my life, is passionate about books and sports and has spent many hours discussing the former and patiently explaining the latter to me, is constantly at the ready to offer me advice worth using (even though he constantly worries he's being overbearing - Dad, you're NOT!), and is someone I genuinely LIKE, in addition to loving. ^^

okay, now, onto one quick check of the email and friendslist. and then bed.
