offbalance: (hometown girl by antheia)
I lost another glove last night. So now I have two right-handed black leather gloves, but no left handed ones. I'm really annoyed that this keeps happening - I know that they weren't fancy or expensive, but they were nice and they were MINE and I'm pissed at myself for not being more careful. So I'm going to track down another pair. Thank goodness I live in NYC, where stores hawking inexpensive leather goods are in abundance.

So anyone who listened to my drunken, cellular-garbled ramblings last night already knows that my wonderfully zany friends Gyda and Michelle are trying like hell to convince me to join their Mardi Gras adventure. I really really want to go. I'm not sure if it's a good idea, etc etc, but oooh it sounds fun. I even found a few decent airfares, but they require going out of Newark. Ugh. I *could* fly out of La Guardia, but I am trying to do whatever is necessary to take a non-stop flight. I just can't fathom spending 6 hours traveling a 3-hour flight distance. It's just...no. No fucking way. I do not need nor do I want to spend that much time in airports. *sigh* Anyway, I have until tomorrow to give her a definite answer.

Tomorrow Gyda is dragging me out to the true Far Side of the World (where [livejournal.com profile] thatgirlinred hails from) to see a community theater production of "Fiorello!" I thought it would be neat to see the show (as being a devotee of all things NYC) but it wasn't until after I agreed to go that she informed me that I'd have to go to Staten Fucking Island. Ugh! Still, it should be fun (since she is fun) and the theater company is providing transport (since Gyda is a reviewer and all).

However, if that falls through, hopefully D will be able to rescue us. I just hope I don't run into anyone unsavory. That would be awful. Usually when I do a favor like this for someone I wind up running into someone I no longer speak to/hate intensely/etc, in the vein of "no good deed goes unpunished. " [gee sharon, paranoid, much?] Hopefully this will NOT happen and it'll be a fun evening that will end up being a story we like to tell when drunk. Not really looking forward to the ferry in this weather, though.

I also have this Polyphonic Spree song stuck in my head. I don't know why.

Okay. My objective is to get everything I can possibly get done today out of the way and be gone from here by 5.

So I'll catch you people on the flipside.

Ready, break!
