So yesterday back at work was hectic, to say the least. I *did* get almost to almost everything that needed to be done, as well as taking care of everything that needed to be accomplished. Didn't get to post, but nothing happened during the day that was really post-worthy.

Later in the evening [livejournal.com profile] quasisonic and I met up with [livejournal.com profile] thatgirlinred and went to Shima, this really great Japanese restaurant on 2nd avenue and 12th street. It's a lovely place - light wood, white paper lanterns, candles on the tables and generally laid-back atmosphere. Hot green tea and miso soup really do wonders to take the chill out of you when your still-sick self is shuffling about in the razor-sharp winter air. I also had this fantastic softshell crab spring roll appetizer that was on special, as well as a spider roll (which I am now addicted to, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] angelicillusion) and a 'Shima Roll' (spicy salmon roll, with a piece of salmon on top, with salmon roe on top of that. YUM). It was lovely, and D really liked the copy of How to Spot a Bastard by his Star Sign I gave her. Honestly, if I had the funds, all of my single friends would receive a copy of this book for Awful Day. After dinner, we grabbed dessert at Veniero's - D enjoyed her Chocolate Decadence, but I was highly dissappointed in my Fruit tart. Around 9:30 we all hugged & parted ways and made plans for next sunday brunch, after I get my hair done.

Then it was on to a small gathering being thrown by [livejournal.com profile] antheia and [livejournal.com profile] queenmother49, in their LOVELY new abode. That place made me seriously reconsider that neighborhood, not to mention nearly crush me with nostalgia, as the house was a dead ringer for the house on Manning Boulevard in Albany that the Earthtones call home (and where Jeff lived for about a year or so). It was nice to see [livejournal.com profile] finbardivine and spend loads of time chatting with [livejournal.com profile] ginpalace, as well as everyone else there. Sadly, Laura and I could only stay for a short while, as the house has 3 cats in it, which was apparently more than my system could handle. So when we finally got a car service to arrive, we went home. I was a total mess - despite showering, my throat was raw and my face a red, itchy mess. The claritin redi-tab worked well enough, but my throat has NOT stopped hurting, and if this persists I'm going to have to spend some quality time with my doctor this weekend. *sigh* Needless to say, I felt like shit today.

Jeff called me yesterday (I got his voicemail as Laura and I were having the "Holy crap it's Manning!" conversation) and when I called him back today we discussed seeing Mystic River, but I was just not up to going anywhere. I would have liked to hang out and see the movie, but I just was too worn out to do anything. So I didn't. I stayed in, and it was the best thing I could have done. I watched Empire Strikes Back, ate lots of yummy Chinese food and slept through most of Return of the Jedi with the parents, and then watched Love the Hard Way, which I got from Netflix, and liked more than I expected to. I still have Velvet Goldmine to watch, but I have a feeling that [livejournal.com profile] quasisonic may want to watch that at some point tomorrow.

Right now? I think bed is the best idea. Although a tiny part of me wouldn't mind watching Donnie Darko, despite how tired I am.
