offbalance: (my gift is my song)
[livejournal.com profile] quasisonic and I watched Velvet Goldmine and, well...I have to confess that I wasn't that impressed. The costumes/makeup/art direction were amazing. The music was good (some of it). The plot/story? Eh. *shrug* It was decent, though - and I might have liked it more if it hadn't been so much hype surrounding it. Still, not terrible. That went back to Netflix this morning. Annie Hall and I think Reservoir Dogs (both of which I have never seen) are on their way.

I sent off the note that will 'lower the boom' (to quote Boss T) on the one that would like to take total advantage of me. No reply. Yet.

And it's going to be lovely out today! Perfect day for a walk, methinks. And possibly to buy a copy of Lost in Translation. hmmm.

Further proof of why Neil Gaiman is a god )

A warm [livejournal.com profile] offbalance welcome to [livejournal.com profile] lachrymosa, who just friended me today out of the clear blue, and to [livejournal.com profile] servermonkey, whom I met in [livejournal.com profile] blergeatkitty's journal in a conversation about The Commodores. My friendslist runneth over!! :D

I went to Tower on my lunch today and was browsing around. I looked at the dvd for Lost in Translation but thought that their price was inflated. However, they had two cds that piqued my interest: the new Phantom Planet cd, and the Polyphonic Spree. Now, the Polyphonic Spree have a great sound, but their whole schtick makes me nervous. They look like some kind of cult, with all those white robes and everything. They look like the kind of people that would put subliminal messages in their songs to get more people to join their cult. But my tone deef self should be safe from that, and at $8.99 it's very tempting, especially since I love that "Follow the day" song.

I just drafted two contracts. Still no word from she-who-would-waste-my time.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] dpaul007 is the owner of today's icon of the day - "Libertarians for Lord Voldemort." Trying not to laugh out loud at work was a losing battle.
