I feel really smart today. A million dollar bill? *facepalm* Jeez, if you're going to counterfeit, at least do something that's not so blatantly (and laughably) obvious. If the Secret Service had a sense of humor, they'd probably be laughing their asses off about this one.

I can see next season's episode of CSI already.

Geez, lady - if you don't know how to use an Ipod properly, then give it to meee. (wannnntsssssses it, we doessss. give it to usss.)

So much to comment on in the news today -

* Robert Pastorelli, who played Eldin on Murphy Brown (one of my favorite shows ever before the whole idiotic baby storyline) died of an apparent drug overdose yesterday. He was 49. He had some good/great character parts over the years, and I liked him. It's so sad.

* Spalding Gray's body was found and identified. How awful. :( Just goes to show that fame and talent and a fulfilling family life can't make a person happy. *sigh*

* Some guy was found in a teeny studio apartment with SIX MONKEYS, a tarantula, a great dane, and tropical aquarium fish. Animal control was also said to have seized a partridge, which was living in a pear tree. *shakes head* I can understand maybe trying to keep ONE monkey, but SIX?? Geeez.

* Gothamist also had this interesting piece about the latest NYU sucide. I had considered going to NYU but didn't, because I wanted to a) go away to school b) wanted a more college-y college experience. [livejournal.com profile] missgyder went there, so I'm sure she'll weigh in with her five cents at some point about what NYU is like, but this quote sort of summed up the impression that both [livejournal.com profile] zyll and I had when we took a mini-tour of NYU a few years ago, whilst looking at schools.

"At NYU, it's really difficult to make friends. There's no campus life. Everyone is isolated. It can be very lonely."

Granted, making friends at any school is difficult. My first year at Albany wasn't exactly cake, and I'm friends with exactly 3 people I met my first year there (Jeff, [livejournal.com profile] thatgirlinred, and [livejournal.com profile] antheia). I didn't become friends with Carly, Nicole and [livejournal.com profile] quantumchickuntil sophomore year, and I didn't meet the [livejournal.com profile] powerwalkerz or get to know [livejournal.com profile] shackledangeluntil Junior year, along with many of the people I try to keep in touch with. Crazy times. But Beyza talked often about how difficult it was to be a transfer, even when you knew people at the school you were going to. And I guess this girl hung her Felicity-like hopes on this one guy who let her down. I'm only sorry she wasn't strong enough to hold on and keep going. No man is worth throwing yourself off a building. My condolences to her friends & family.

On a slightly lighter note, Breakfast at Tiffany's was on last night and I indulged in the last hour or so. And no, I didn't get all weepy at the end. I didn't. I swear !! oh shaddup. Even so, I was amazed at how much Sex & the City used Breakfast at Tiffany's as a blueprint (which they acknowledged in the 4th season finale "I ♥ NY," in a way) for both the characters and the look of the show. I'm sure that wasn't an accident.

I regained my composure in time to get all weepy at the end of Queer Eye (but if the Fab 5 can get all weepy, then so can I). Hell, even the Beautiful Kyan said, "Oh, shoot me!" at one point during the schmoopfest that was last night. *sigh*

Just had another Vada sighting. She asked me to direct her to one of the lawyers' offices.

That's the glamorous world of publishing for you, folks!

(and I've re-written this post 4 times because I didn't feel like the language was right. Yes, I'm well aware that I have problems).
