Weekend, ANZAC-style.
Apr. 26th, 2004 11:26 amI'm sure my friends in Australia & New Zealand are scratching their heads over what in the hell a girl from New York City might have to say about ANZAC day, and truth to be told, it's not very much. However, many bottles of Shiraz, some great lasange and some equally great nachos (that I need the recepie for) were consumed on Saturday night in celebration of ANZAC day eve at
blergeatkitty's and
feyfanatic's fab apartment, while listening to INXS and Crowded House. It was there that I also had the oppotunity to meet such LJ luminaries as
alcestis,
tacologic,
39orangestreet, and
laughingirl, the crafter of said exceptional nachos. Also in attendance were
teany and
selftoken, who were telling me all about their upcoming trip to Italy, observing all the different shades of jealous green I can turn. ;) Fun abounded, and towards the end of the evening,
Blerg & I kicked major ass in a game of Trivial Pursuit against teams composed of worthy rivals
teany/
selftoken and
alcestis/
tacologic, scoring a victory for single girls everywhere.
It was so fantastic to play Trivial Pusuit again - I love the game, and yet almost no one ever wants to play with/against me after finding out that I was on Jeopardy. Thankfully this tidbit didn't emerge until after play was underway, but it didn't seem to affect things much. The most heartening thing was that my team got off to a very very slow start, but then rallied back in a stunning 4-chip-in-a-row streak and wound up winning the entire game in spectacular fashion. So it's possible to start out with a not-so-great record and yet win the entire thing at the end. (and that's all the baseball-related comments I'm going to make. )
Friday I took myself out shopping after work. I wanted to check out Lord & Taylor to see this incredible sale that Michelle spoke of, but found nothing I liked. Still, L&T will be one of the places I'll be shopping when it gets closer to Carly & Tim's wedding. I was impressed by the selection and prices. I also walked myself over to Koreatown after stopping in Lush and Macy's, and had dinner at Kr.space cafeteria. It was the perfect place for an uninitiated person like myself to try Korean food for the first time, and I definitely want to try more in the near future. Yum!
Ugh. Now I have to get back to work. Boss L is on vacation this week and there's much to be done, as always. *breathes*
