Mets and Mermaids
Jun. 24th, 2004 03:25 pmThe more I think about it, the more taking Monday off sounds like a sensational idea. Good thing I did. ;)
I'm going to the Subway Series game sunday night with
trebleahead, which will hopefully bring out Los Creatures Bleacheros in full form, and not in semi-form, as they've been the last few times. Because of the 8pm start, I'm going to be getting home VERY late. And I'm going to need and want sleep. So you know what? Fuck it. :) I deserve a long weekend! And, I need to make sure that article for
digitalbrooklyn is done and in.
*kicks LJ servers* Give.me.back.my.friends....page!!! Arrrgh.
I may get peer pressured into the Mermaid Parade, too. I know it's very Un-Brooklyn Pride of me to say this, but I don't get the big fuss it seems to be getting this year. It's a glorious tackfest that no doubt piques an interest in the Professionally Bemused Hipster Brigade, but it's a lot of unattractive, overweight people (as opposed to attractive people of size) who fancy nudism, or at least near-nudism. I know when people hear 'Mermaid,' they think of lithe, toned bodies in sequined fins (like the one in the tank at the Coral Room) or at the very least, cute little kids in costume (like on Halloween). While these elements may be present at the parade, I'm here to warn you that there may be some things you're not going to want to see. So don't say that you haven't been warned.
I'm trying to post a witty comment to
blergeatkitty's latest post. However, the sodding servers are not permitting this. Ugh. Ever since they got rid of the invite codes, it's been all downhill. Downhill, I tell you!!!
For those of you wondering why my mood is 'cranky' despite an otherwise upbeat post, I'll hint that it has something to do with my icon, but not the fact that the Yanks got buried by the Birdies last night, or anything to do with baseball or even the Star Wars franchise. *doubles over*
Oh, and finally: this just in: Massive congratulations to
applessixeleven, on her well-deserved promotion to Programmer Analyst!!! Yaaay!!
( This meme was not surprising! )
