offbalance: (bye bye by Isis grey)
Firstly, being the bad Half-Breed that I am, I totally forgot to wish all of you a happy 5765. L'shana Tova, everybody!

And now, in the spirit of the holiday, here's a comic that I found though Boing Boing that caused the spit take of the day:

And you thought the yamukle bra was the last of it... )

Also, on a more somber note, RIP to Johnny Ramone. I'd quote a song here in euology, but somehow they all feel wrong, except maybe 'Do you Remember Rock N Roll Radio," which I can't remember the lyrics to at the moment.

I just got approved for a personal day on Monday. Thank the Lord. Now, I'll be able to rest a wee bit, take care of a few errands, put away my laundry, tidy my wreck of a room, and finally call Dell to give them the what for. And once this is all finally settled and fixed, I'm going to bite the bullet, buy a copy of Norton, and there will be peace in the valley. But that's a long way off.

Tonight is Happy Hour. Tomorrow is the Victorian Bachelorette, as well as [livejournal.com profile] greensward's pre-birthday fiesta. Sunday is Yankees vs teh evol with [livejournal.com profile] trebleahead (must remember to perfect my most obnoxious heckling), and then dinner afterwards with [livejournal.com profile] greensward, [livejournal.com profile] trebleahead, and some other people.

Now, work. Even though I don't WANNA.

Had lunch with the former Intern today. She's doing well, we discussed her different career options and such. She's in very much the same place I was about *gulp* two years ago, so I was relaying experiences and what I learned and all that. She's really terrific, and I hope she manages to connect wtih something soon, but she's determined to hold out for what she really wants, which I respect. Plus, she's got a good head on her shoulders and a healthy understanding of her abilities and limitations. Personally, I would hire her in about 0.68 seconds, and other people have expressed similar sentiments. But she wants to work in editorial on the adult side, which I can't blame her for. I've encouraged her to do what feels right, and to keep fighting, and we discussed things like lateral movements and experience and all that. It feels kind of cool to be able to talk to her about career paths and then switch over to discussing our love lives. Heh. Still, I hope she is able to get what she wants, and have it actually be what she wants. And not because it might be cool to have a friend who's an editor at a big publishing house when I want to be a novelist. Okay, well, not only. She's a nice, hardworking kid who managed to get out of Harvard without a swelled head. :)

Speaking of writing, I'm also very concerned. I sent [livejournal.com profile] 0ceanangel my [livejournal.com profile] digitalbrooklyn article, but have not heard anything from her, and I'm not sure my digitalbrooklyn email sent it properly, and I'm worried that it may not have gotten there. *frets*

Concentrating has not been easy today. I'm glad for my day off. Also? I found out why Boss T has been so cranky lately, and it has positively nothing to do with me. *beams* As always. Sheesh. I should learn to accept the fact that they're very happy with me here, and everyone is on edge. New Girl is due to become New Mommy in about a month. Boss T is being run ragged, and we're all really feeling Boss L's absence. When she called to check in today it was all I could do to not start begging her to come back yesterday. But instead we talking about the Six Feet Under finale and how bored she is. Heh. Boredom...I think I was bored once.

I wonder what [livejournal.com profile] greensward is going to want to do tomorrow. Hm. Better call him later.

Still no idea where we're going to tea, but since we're meeting up so early, I don't think it'll be an issue. I'll bring directions to all 3 places and if one's too crowded, we'll go somewhere else. I keep forgetting Carly & her family are not reservation people. I realized today that the wedding is in 2 weeks and flipped out, so I can only imagine why she's been so preoccupied. At least she told me yesterday about how much she loves her new job, so that's good news. [livejournal.com profile] whtegrlwthehair is very happy with her new job, too. So there's good job vibes all around now. :)

Back to work for me. I've given up on docushare for now, and probably will just send a package down to be scanned next week. My energies are needed in places aside from the copy machine, and I can't spend an hour bent over it trying to scan pages in right now.

also, can I borrow a cup of morphine? My body is trying to self-eviscerate. *doubles over*
