A lot of weekend.
Sep. 20th, 2004 07:28 pmI'm updating via the VERY old client I used to update from back in Yonder Days of college on my dad's computer. So this will be a very low-tech entry. I will try to separate the little blurbs of my adventures into chapters for your enjoyment, or at least for easier skimming.
Adventures in Computing, Vol. 2447:
Well, it's official. My OS is FUBAR. The very very unhelpful tech support persons I called (*insert rant about the evils of outsourcing here*) basically affirmed my suspicions on that. So the only questions that remain are a) how do I get my files off and b) whom can I bribe (and how) to fix this for me? *sigh*
I'm a whisper in water:
Somehow, by the grace of God and the MTA, I made it into the city to meet up with Carly & Laurel for her bachelorette on Saturday, despite Biblical rains, winds and floods. We went shopping for lingere and jewelry, managed to get a cab in the pouring rain (worth 5000 NYer points) in order to have tea at....Tea & Sympathy. After all of my self-induced stress, the first place was really the perfect one. *sigh*
offbalance's Day Off:
Today I did (basically) nothing, and it was everything I hoped it could be. I have to go back to work tomorrow, yuck. But at least I'm going to have the fun of asking my boss if it's okay if I take a half day Thursday in order to go to a Yankee game. (don't worry
teany, I'll be back in time for San Genaro.
PEEEEEEEDRO.....PEEEEEEEEEEEDROOOOOO..........
Yesterday was a stellar day at the ballpark with
trebleahead. The bleachers were packed with more creatures than in recent memory, and we had great fun chanting at the Sox's 'pitcher' with the title line. Usually after a run was scored, so that was at least, what, eleven times? Heh. Quote of the afternoon was directed at Boston's CF, Johnny of Nazareth:
"HEY DAMON! I SAW THE PASSION! AND IT SUCKED!"
Here were some runners up, from various sources:( Bleacher classics )
I know I'm being a tad smug, but that's just par for the course. I endure quite a bit of Yankee bashing with a good-natured smile, so watching them come together as they did in this series just gives me a warm feeling inside.
They say it's your birthday
greensward celebrated his birthday in style this weekend, with two days of festivities. I highly reccomend City Lighting (on Flatbush Ave & 7th Ave). Vodka tonics were $4 each. Beers weren't too much more than that. On a Saturday night. Score! Plus, it was a good time - Lisa & Andy were present, as well as others. We also went out after the game, and I'm sort of sad about Heartland Brewery's new direction. I know it was never a bastion of culinary excellence, but I liked the place. The beer is still good, though.
Final thought
It's amazing how the weekend cyclone just sweeps me up and drops me off and I have so few recollections of what happened. Friday I was enjoying a quiet happy hour with Gyda & Michelle, and now it's 7:21 on Monday and I can't believe it's all over. All the time is going so quickly, it takes my breath away. This week is no different. Movieoke, Yankees (pending boss approval), San Genaro,
missgyder's sendoff, and that's before Saturday!
I really really love my life. :)
Late-breaking news:
More later...but congrats to a friend who informed me of VERY big news today. Sorry to be secretive, but it's not my news to break.
