Yesterday I discovered an idea which could easily be developed into the sequel to Snakes on a Plane. After defeating the snakes on the plane, Samuel L. Jackson returns home, thinking he's in for a quiet evening. Only then does he discover his new enemy:
PIGEONS IN THE LIVING ROOM!!!
I had a similar adventure yesterday morning. Our garbage can finally died, so we bought a new one. I was waiting for the can to be full before I put the new one to use, and that happened Sunday morning as I was cleaning. I went into the living room to get the new can, and found myself staring at a pigeon, who was sitting on the back of one of the dining room chairs. . Instinctively, my reaction as a New Yorker was to scream "WHAT THE FUCK?!" at the top of my lungs. This startled the SECOND pigeon, who was hanging out atop a bookshelf and out of my field of view. After a litany of f-bombs, I ran to my sister's room, and knocked on the door. She, half awake, opened it.
As calmly as I could manage, I said to her: "Laura, there are pigeons in the living room. I need help." Suddenly she was awake, alert, and ready.
writergal78 also came out of her room to see what was going on, and I told her to get the broom. Puck and Laura ran into the living room, opened the front window and managed to get one of the birds out before Amy came in with the broom, which Puck and Laura used to get the other bird out. My contribution was cowering in the doorway yelling "Motherfucking PIGEONS in the living room!! PIGEONS in my living room!!!" and my personal favorite, "Get these Avain Flu motherfuckers OUT of my house!!"
(Laura insists that were she the one that made the surprise discovery, I would have been the one dealing with it instead of freaking out. She said that having a minute or two to process the information makes it easier. She's very nice, isn't she?)
Apparently, the visit was caused by a window left open overnight (we don't have screens). We got off light, considering there was almost no pidgeon poo anywhere and nothing was knocked over or broken. However, I still prefer OUTSIDE stuff to stay away from the INSIDE. *shudder*
Yeah. So, how was your weekend?
What a way to start a Sunday. Thankfully it was followed by a lovely brunch by
antheia of bangers, potatoes, scrambled eggs and silly movies.
Right now I'm working away and so is my new temp. He's SO nice, and seems like he knows what he's doing. Ahh, blss.
