offbalance: (alton brown multi-purpose)
Last night, [livejournal.com profile] blergeatkitty and I had a wonderful meal at One If By Land, Two if By Sea for restaurant week. The meal proved one thing to me: that though they can be right about so much, Chowhound mostly has its collective head up its ass. They dragged this place over the coals, which it completely didn't deserve. I thought the food was nicely done, the service exemplary, and the room is possibly the most beautiful I've ever seen anywhere. Granted, I wasn't paying the $69 regular prix fixe price, but I still feel like the complainers were off. I've disagreed with people on that site about many things (Sripaphi and DiFara's, primarilly - both highly overrated in my book), but this is the first time I've ever found the posters to be so blatantly wrong about something.

I just remembered: after I get out of work tomorrow (at the lovely hour of 12:45), I will not be back at work until Thursday.

I think this calls for a little celebration dance. ::dances::

Of course, aside from [livejournal.com profile] antheia's birthday fete Friday night, Saturday Morning my parents are coming to pick up [livejournal.com profile] quasisonic and myself at the inhuman hour of 7am to drive all the way the motherhell upstate to go to my cousin's wedding. So not fair, I can't even begin. I mean, there are easily a dozen weekends in the summer, so WHY did she have to decide to get married the SAME weekend that the Scissor Sisters are going to be at Siren Festival? ::grumble:: Hopefully it'll be somewhat fun, though. Although nothing strikes more fear into my heart than the term, "It's in a National Park!" I'm going to buy the strongest variety of OFF! they sell and tell everyone it's Chanel's latest fragrance. Urk.

I do hope, though, that we get to spend some time with [livejournal.com profile] herrsprengstoff and [livejournal.com profile] wint3rhart, though. Because that would make up for just about everything else.
