Morning News Brief.
Aug. 10th, 2006 12:01 pmThere's a lot going on in the world right now, as you all know. I certainly wasn't the only one to utter a sleepy expletive or two upon hearing about the craziness over at Heathrow that's going on right now.
Many people will have (and have had) different things to say about this. So far, the best, most eloquent entry I've read so far (I'd even go so far as to call it an essay), was by my friend physedluver. Now, I've known her since high school, when we worked on the newspaper together. During that time, I had a lot of friends that talked a lot, yet said nothing. (
whtegrlwthehair, while you were not one of these people, I'm sure you know whom I mean).
physedluver was the complete opposite - she could squeeze more wit and insight into one brief spoken or written sentence than some of my acquaintance could manage to put into a paragraph of ums, ahs, and like you knows, and for that I always enjoyed our conversations. Well, that and her general awesomeness. So, I must briefly embarrass this publicity-shy lj'er to pimp her marvelous post, as it's better than any "Holy Crap!" I'd have to add to the pile.
And in other news, nihilistic_kid provided a welcome respite from Serious News Topics (as well as a good, hearty chuckle) with this post.
Last night I had a marvelous time at a publishing industry function and met some really cool people as a result. But more on that later. Right now, I have agents to reply to.
