Wow, I haven't done a real update in awhile. I shouldn't be surprised, considering how batshit insane the run-up to Halloween was this year, but even so.

I swear, that holiday is getting as crazed as the December holidays, if not more than. Anyway, I have learned something very important: the next time I get the oh-so-brilliant idea to march in the Village Halloween Parade, I'm going to lie down until it passes. I've gone the last couple of years, and it was fun and just the right amount of crazy. This year? It should have been called Hoochie-Con. It was crowded and awful, and I found the majority of the costumes disappointing. It just goes to show that when Halloween is on a Sunday, Monday or Tuesday, you get a better parade. Only the die-hards come out, and the riff raff tends to stay home, or they appear in fewer numbers. Oh well, live and learn. Le Sigh.

The highlight of the evening was spent with good company and a large margarita at Rodeo Bar, listening to a really good Beatles cover band and eating yummy, quasi-Mexican goodies. It was like our very own Day of the Dead celebration!

Anyway, now that business is over with, I can concentrate on the fact that it's November, and actually acting like November. This means lots of ice skating, since Bryant Park is open and Rockefeller Center is doing their $5 lunchtime skate Monday-Thursday, which I plan to indulge in as long as I can before they put the oversized twig up and the area is infested with the annual holiday tourist swarm. At the moment I'm sort of psyched about Thanksgiving and Christmas, but I know that by December 20, I'll be counting the minutes until January, as I fight my way through countless amblers and gawpers as I attempt to go about my usual business.

Speaking of which, better get back to it.
