offbalance: (buffy becoming)
The GOP Primary Field in Buffy Villains, aka the funniest thing I've seen all week. Thanks much to [livejournal.com profile] ntang for posting it, it's absolutely brilliant.

A new way to look at resolutions , previously linked by [livejournal.com profile] antheia. I really like the whole concept of using a word or an idea instead of a specific resolution. However, the last year or so, I've been torturing myself in a similar fashion with the word "perfection," and that's not been helpful or healthy. (Because perfection is clearly so easy to obtain. Not to mention easily defined. I mean, really.)

I'm going to try to make my word for the year be either "relax," "breathe," or "enjoy." I think "breathe," is the front runner, but we'll see how that goes.

Last night plans to have dinner at Lombardi's were dashed due to bad house management on their part, so all of us celebrating the birth of [livejournal.com profile] infinitehippo were forced to take refuge at Soho Park. Which was fine with me, as I love that place, and wanted to get my burger on. It was lovely to see everyone there, particularly the birthday boy, [livejournal.com profile] ariella_pink, and however briefly, [livejournal.com profile] antheia. The three of us do have to come up with an ice skating plan of some style soon, but preferably when it's not -50, the way it is outside right now. I am wearing stockings under my corduroys, my heaviest sweater, a tank top under that, my heavy boots and heaviest coat, and I was still cold. Ugh. Welcome to January, I guess.

I also can't seem to get the days right. I keep thinking it's Tuesday, and it's Thursday. Which I should know, as the latter is infinitely better than the former. Especially since [livejournal.com profile] redesigner and I are going to see The Farnesworth Invention. ::squee:: I haven't been to a Broadway show since August, and I haven't been to a Broadway play for a couple of years (that revival of After the Fall I saw with [livejournal.com profile] whtegrlwthehair was just that bad, I guess). I'm still pretty excited, though.

And now, I have to get cracking on work stuff. I kind of wish that editors wouldn't send out contract requests when they don't have any of the relevant information on them, but oh, dare to dream.
