Wednesday Sundries
Sep. 1st, 2010 09:02 pm*Not that I'm moving anywhere yet, but in light of
traces recent post I thought I'd do a robot dreamwidth roll call. Some of you are already over there, but I figured I'd ask around again. I've got the same username there that I do here...so, if you're over there, come by and say hello!!
- Still generally unpleased about LJ's new "features" and the lack of response on LJ's part to the outcry against them. C'mon, guys.
- Some complete and total nutter decided that the best way to convince the Discovery Channel to carry his message was to hold its staff hostage. ::facepalm:: Thankfully, no one was hurt. But if there's anyone out there who wants to know why people are always saying not enough resources are spent on mental healthcare in this country? Stuff like this is why.
+ I finished Anthony Bourdain's Medium Raw today. I liked it every bit as much as Kitchen Confidential. Once again, he had me shrieking with laughter on rush-hour trains, causing others to stare at me, but I didn't give a damn, because it was too awesome. It was like hanging out with a friend you hadn't seen for awhile. You meet up, grab drinks, have some food, have more drinks, and talk about your lives. And, if said happens to be a blisteringly cantankerous motherfucker who takes special pleasure in slaughtering sacred cows, all the better. I've also been mainlining episodes of Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations, too. If
j_bkl wasn't off Monday, I would probably be spending the day watching the 12 hour marathon on the travel channel. But he's off, so we'll probably find something fun to do.
+ My little fangirl heart is a-twitter, as I won a facebook contest and am now the proud owner of a dvd set of the first season of The Vampire Diaries!! I'm psyched! Basically what you had to do to enter was say whether you thought Elena belonged with Damon or Stefan. So I said: ( cut for spoilers )And apparently, Entertainment Weekly liked what I said enough to decide I was getting some dvds. So yey.
* It's September. I'm really not sure how I feel about this. On the one hand, we go back to normal hours next week, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to coming in later and leaving earlier. On the other, the summer sort of shot by like a lightning bolt. AND, the wedding planning is about to kick into high gear. Gah.
+My new phone, after I loaded a backup I did of my old phone onto it, is now my changeling phone. Because it's exactly like the phone that stopped working...except it's not. It's eerie.
- I don't know if it's the heat or ennui, but I'm having a devil of a time giving a shit. Ugh.
- I don't know why, but I've been kind of in a mood today. That makes me believe that today sucked a fat one when it honestly didn't. Really, self? This is no time for emo.
