Sweet and Sour

I had a long angry, ranty post up for about 0.68 seconds about a NY Times article mentioned in the Gothamist, thought better of it, and took it down. The last thing I want to do is start a flame war here, even though issues like this one tend to get my back up. I do happen to agree with the Gothamist on this one, and they're having an interesting debate about it over in their comments section, if you'd like to add your two cents over there.
Honestly, I'm more upset at the moment about possibly having lost one of my favorite pairs of earrings. :( Arrgh.
But, on the good news page, I GOT A RAISE!! A nice raise. A very happy raise. Not a crazy raise, but one that pleases me greatly. Retroactive from January, so I got a nice little extra bonus in time for me to go to New Orleans.
I also picked up the Time Out guide to New Orleans today. Lots of info on restaurants, bars and shopping, which will be our primary focus for this trip. ;) I'll save the historical stuff for when I visit
zyll (if she'll still have me, that is).
And also, I was not aware that there are casinos in New Orleans. I had literally no idea. I doubt I'll be doing any gambling, but we'll see how it goes. My paternal grandfather was supposedly an expert at craps, and I wonder if it runs in the family. Even though I know I'm pretty good at blackjack. Still, I'd prefer to fritter money away on tangible goods, such as food, trinkets, and of course, alcohol. I have to remember that you're allowed to smoke in New Orleans bars as well. That's going to be an adjustment.
So.very.excited. And a little bit nervous, but I'm always a little nervous when I travel to a new place. Even when I went to London, and that was an awesome trip. I really do love traveling, and I can't wait to do more of it. There are so many places I want to go and experience. :) Not to mention cool people I'd like to meet. :)
Now, back to work!
(oh,
da_judge1? Email me, as it is unlikely that I will be on AIM anytime soon, and I lost your im name...)
