I just figured out how on my version of MS word, you can change an MS word document into an Adobe .pdf file.

In my department, this is akin to changing straw into gold. And I didn't even have to give up my firstborn to do it!

I don't get many moments of geekitude, so I'm savoring this one. I know it's not the same as building a linux-based OS with your own two hands, or even writing a program, but hey, this is a banner day for yours truly.

I also took some time in the sunshine (wheee!) and nipped into the Versace store to see the Sex & the City dress. It's not as ugly as Gothamist thinks it is, I personally thought it was sort of fun, but I wouldn't pay 40 grand for it.

I made stops in H&M and Banana Republic on my way to buy myself a very small treat (a small cup of Ben & Jerry's. Oh yum), and I think I'm going to be spending some money there later in the week, especially as I seem to have no plans for Friday night. I need to do some shopping, so it seems like an ideal occasion to engage in that. I could even do some shopping and then some Eternal Sunshine, perhaps. Anybody interested?

Saturday is Carly & Tim day, so I have to call Carly and try to make out what she's saying on her craptastic cell phone. *sigh*

And I need to get back to work, as I need to leave ON TIME or early today.

Edit: Before I forget, everybody should go and look at Lex's beautiful Celtic Jewelry! :) I know many of you who read this like that sort of design, so I thought I'd pimp a good cause. :)

You can convert from DOC to PDF without having the full on version of Acrobat? Cool.

I *do* have the full version of acrobat, actually. But, I can convert in Word, not Adobe.

Using the cool litte Adobe icon that shows up in Word? I haven't messed with it much, but was kind of excited to see I was able to do that after installing Acrobat 5.0.

Quite nifty indeed.

I actually liked that dress on SATC, but I can imagine it looks quite different in person. Let me add that to my list of reasons why I should live in NYC: "Ability to see actual bits of Carrie's wardrobe in person." There is nothing so cool here in Cincy.

I'm sure there are plenty of cool things to do in Cincinatti. Like not paying ridiculous amounts of rent! And um...I've never been, so help me out here! ;)

And the dress was nice. It looked like a bunch of remnants stitched together by a grappling hook, but there was something interesting about it.

Actually I shouldn't diss my hometown, there are plenty of things that are great about Cincinnati, and the low cost of living is near the top of the list. Example: my enormous 2 bdrm w/ a view, six blocks from the center of the city is $575/month. You can't get a parking spot for that price in NYC.

Actually, there was a time when an apartment like you describe in Midtown Manhattan cost that amount. It's commonly referred to as the 1960s.

*sigh* Hell, I don't even think you can get a STUDIO in Manhattan for that much anymore!

Learning to print to PDF was one of the joys (and I'm being sarcastic here) of filing my dissertation.

Actually, it is pretty cool to be able to convert files from WordPerfect to PDF, but it was frustrating in this instance because the Grad School has lots of nitpicky format requirements that don't convert well. Margins went wonky, page numbers went awry. It was just nasty.

Now, however, I convert files with wild abandon.

eeek. The first time is always tough. And I was very scared of Adobe before I had to use it (almost) every day. But now I'm getting pretty good at it, so I feel more confident. :)

Eternal Sunshine, perhaps. Anybody interested?

Definitely... though if I were to make it, it'd have to be a late showing depending on the theater location since I have to work until 5 and the train wouldn't get me into GCT until ~7:20 ;)

Ack! No... wait... yeah, I want to see Eternal Sunshine, but it'll have to wait. Friday, I have to go see Jersey Girl

Well, we were planning on seeing the 8-something show at the Union Square theater. I think the show after that is 10-something. I'll have to confer with Laura about times, but I don't see why we can't work something out. :)
