Anniversaries

Where does the time go? Seriously. Exactly two years ago today I was sitting on a lawn by the science library and praying that we didn't get blown away by the gale-force winds, while wearing 3 sweaters, gloves and winter weight pants under my robe to keep warm. I'm amazed. The post I made that day mostly talks about the individual department ceremony from the day before, but it's still funny to think about how much has changed since then, and mostly how much I have changed since then. I know it's for the better - I'm physically and emotionally in better shape than I was then. Everything changed, and so much of the life I had become accustomed to had fallen away out of necessity, but leaving all of that behind is what made me a stronger person, I think, anyway. There have been a lot of changes within these two years that were hard, but so gratifying in the long haul.
Not to sound arrogant, but I am proud of myself. :) I worked hard, and I learned a great deal.
I think the most important thing I figured out was something that Jon Stewart said in the commencement address I mentioned in my last post:
So how do you know what is the right path to choose to get the result that you desire? And the honest answer is this. You won't. And accepting that greatly eases the anxiety of your life experience.

It feels like a short time and a long time at the same time. Odd..
