There's beauty in the breakdown

offbalanceSo Saturday (after an unsuccessful attempt at purchasing faux-Wellies from Payless) I got a bee in my bonnet about having the Garden State soundtrack as my very own. Maybe it was the fact that I had had "New Slang" by the Shins in my head for about 20 hours at that point (no lie - that song can and WILL change your life - track it down if you can). The soundtrack is like a really great mix from a friend - I've been listening to it nonstop for 3 days and can't get enough. Luckily, my friend A from the sci-fi club had made me an ultra mp3 data cd megamix of pracitcally every indie band of note, I had plenty of Shins to listen to last night as well. <3
The Shins are only one treasure amongst the baker's dozen, too. I now must must check out more music by Zero 7, Theivery Corporation, and Frou Frou. There's also great songs by Coldplay and my favorite Simon & Garfunkel song perhaps ever, but those 3 were wonderful discoveries. I really was in the need of something fresh, and they worked a treat. :D
Boss L has left for her medical leave. Boss T and New Girl are on vacation until tomorrow. (Note: When the baby is born, New Girl will be renamed New Mom. I won't do it before then, as I am v.superstitious. But in case you were wondering.) Yeah. Temp Girl is settled in, and at the moment no one is really in charge, but I'm now the one people will be going to for advice on things. Pray for me. *whimper*
But all of this is not why I am excited. Oh no. I have finally been broken by a good price (and the soreness of my poor back from lugging crap around). And it will be mine. I'll have it, oh yes. It will be my own. My precious.

And ooh! The YPG is having aboozefest networking party at the 79th street Boat Basin in September! I'm so there!

Different drinks yield different results. Each funnier than the next. This is a personal favorite:
stay in bed watching marathons of Buffy and AbFab, and nursing our dreadful hangovers, no doubt . ;)
