Okay, I go back to school tomorrow. I have lots of work I have to do, but none I actually WANT to do. *sigh* I have to sit online and look up Arthurian websites for one class. I have to work on a paper for another, even though I don't have the original on a disk format I can work from on my dad's comp anymore. I also have tons to read, 90% of it drek. I have to read the rest of the story of Perceval, idiot wanker of the round table and much much more of the house of the seven gables. Boring boring boring. Why is it that all of the 'great' American authors can seem to do nothing except bore people into a coma? I also need to work on a column, but I'll probably do that later.

school is so fired. I just need to get through this semester, and I'll be free. Free of pseudo-intellectuals whose quest for righteousness rivals the quest of medieval Catholics to achieve piousness. Free of stupid homework. Free of working days, nights and weekends for no money. I'll have a paycheck. No homework. It'll be great.

You know, I STILL take immense joy and glee from knowing that I have no homework, nor will I be getting any homework. That I will never have to write another worthless report or struggle to understand some half-wits lecture notes.

Also, whats the disk format you are trying to convert from/to?

from a zipdisk to a house that has no zip drives. *sigh* There used to be zip drives, but then everyone but me went and got cd-rw drives.

and the existence of the world of which you speak fills me with incalculable joy. It's all I can do to get through the next few months. it's going to be really nice to work all day, and come home, and be able to goof off in a manner of my choosing.

There is one caveat. When I first starting working full time I spent WAY too much time in the office and found myself spending only fleeting moments at home. Of coure, at that time I lived around 2 hours away from work AND still lived at home, so I wasn't too anxious to GET home ;)

Sucks about the zipdisk =(
I too have not touched my zip drive in like years ;)

it's all I got. and it's not a *bad* system, really. My comp is from '99, after the one I bought in '98 got struck by lightning that came in through my modem line. I'm getting a new comp for graduation (unless I change my mind again). Any suggestions?

2 hours away? Yeeg. Where were you working?

I was working in midtown. I was LIVING in Canarsie.

Computer suggestions? If you want a super-machine (either for gaming, video-editing, advanced graphic design or audio development), then you go custom built (which I do ).

If its just for business or home leisure (document writing, net surfing, home stereo replacement, DVD playing, etc).

Then go for a Dell home machine.

Im guessing your not going for a super machine, so here is a spec breakdown you should look for:

At least 1 gigahertz CPU (1ghz)
At least 256 megs ram though I suggest 512 (ram is relatively cheap)
At least 10 gig hard drive but I would go for a 60 gig (hard drive space is cheap).

I don't know how into mp3's you are, but if your like me, you listen to more mp3's these days then anything else. If that is the case, then you want to see if Dell (or whomever you go with) offers higher end sound cards.

You DO NOT want any sound card by Intel or ESS.

And spring for a low cost 5.1 dolby system, makes watching DVD awesome =D

ok, im getting long winded now, I'm learning to stop myself :)

If you want more details I can e-mail ya ;)
Overall i've found buying a new PC or upgrading to be the perfect excuse to replace almost all the customer multimedia out there. My system now serves as my TV set / radio / DVD player, jukebox, and eventually when I get money coming in again... VCR.

These are exciting times!
