Okay, I go back to school tomorrow. I have lots of work I have to do, but none I actually WANT to do. *sigh* I have to sit online and look up Arthurian websites for one class. I have to work on a paper for another, even though I don't have the original on a disk format I can work from on my dad's comp anymore. I also have tons to read, 90% of it drek. I have to read the rest of the story of Perceval, idiot wanker of the round table and much much more of the house of the seven gables. Boring boring boring. Why is it that all of the 'great' American authors can seem to do nothing except bore people into a coma? I also need to work on a column, but I'll probably do that later.
school is so fired. I just need to get through this semester, and I'll be free. Free of pseudo-intellectuals whose quest for righteousness rivals the quest of medieval Catholics to achieve piousness. Free of stupid homework. Free of working days, nights and weekends for no money. I'll have a paycheck. No homework. It'll be great.

Date: 2002-03-02 06:49 pm (UTC)Computer suggestions? If you want a super-machine (either for gaming, video-editing, advanced graphic design or audio development), then you go custom built (which I do ).
If its just for business or home leisure (document writing, net surfing, home stereo replacement, DVD playing, etc).
Then go for a Dell home machine.
Im guessing your not going for a super machine, so here is a spec breakdown you should look for:
At least 1 gigahertz CPU (1ghz)
At least 256 megs ram though I suggest 512 (ram is relatively cheap)
At least 10 gig hard drive but I would go for a 60 gig (hard drive space is cheap).
I don't know how into mp3's you are, but if your like me, you listen to more mp3's these days then anything else. If that is the case, then you want to see if Dell (or whomever you go with) offers higher end sound cards.
You DO NOT want any sound card by Intel or ESS.
And spring for a low cost 5.1 dolby system, makes watching DVD awesome =D
ok, im getting long winded now, I'm learning to stop myself :)
If you want more details I can e-mail ya ;)
Overall i've found buying a new PC or upgrading to be the perfect excuse to replace almost all the customer multimedia out there. My system now serves as my TV set / radio / DVD player, jukebox, and eventually when I get money coming in again... VCR.
These are exciting times!
