Having an mp3 player again is better than a day of sunshine, puppies, and cake.   Seriously.  I hope those in and around Rockefeller Center weren't too put off by my singing and dancing.   Still, all was not easy last night.   The music finished transferring, and I decided I'd throw the U2 on there that I'd forgotten about, and at that particular moment, Hermione decides to freeze.   Argh.  So I restart, panicking slightly.   My machine won't turn on all the way.   I panic more now, restart again, still nothing.  So, even though it says, "do not disconnect," I disconnect the ipod.   Hermione starts.  I curse.  In nearly a full-scale blind panic, I follow the handy-dandy instructions that my saint of a father was kind enought to not only print out, but bind for me, and I re-set the ipod.  It's fine.  Phew.  But now iTunes is not recognizing it.  Gah.  I guess this means I'm going to have to re-install iTunes.   Isn't that GREAT?   ::facepalm::  If those of you with more itunes/ipod related experience have any words of wisdom to add, I'd love to hear them.   Puck said that when things calmed down for him at work he'd be willing to take a look at Hermione to see why she's been all wonky-like on occasion of late, so I'm hopeful this is only a short-term glitch.

In my ipod-induced haze of yesterday's weekend recap post, I forgot to mention one of the most random (and therefore coolest) parts of my weekend.  As Carly, Tim and I were leaving the lovely confines of the Jersey City Target, I saw a familiar figure on a bench.  As it turns out, it was[livejournal.com profile] selftoken, on his lunch break!  It was a lot of fun to see him, and after shooting the breeze awhile, Tim gave him a ride back to the office.

Speaking of offices, alumni of the Daily Show had a big night last night at the Emmys.   While I'm extremely pleased about Jeremy Piven finally being recognized for inhabiting one of the funniest damn characters on TV, there were a lot of things I just didn't get.   (Julia Louise Dreyfus, for one.  Does anyone even watch that show she's on?)  Still, Conan proved himself to be a most excellent host (does anyone have a link to the opening film? I'd love to see it, I tuned in late, and [livejournal.com profile] trebleahead told me about it).  Also, anything with Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert = Love.  Seriously.  Those two are my fake news OTP.   Also, the award for best acceptance speech (possibly of all time) goes to Greg Garcia, writer/creator of My Name is Earl, for his, in which he named three people he would not like to thank.  Hillarious.

Congratulations to 24, though. I guess having a show with a single, season-long plot arc isn't too much for award-show voters to surmount after all.   (Bitter about how things like Buffy and Veronica Mars never seem to get nominated for acting or writing awards? Me? Nah.)

And now it's time to do work.   Hooray. Boss T is on vacation this week, so I'm expecting a handful of calls, containing bewildered voices exclaiming, "What do you mean he's not there?!"  Fun, fun!

Boss T is on vacation this week, so I'm expecting a handful of calls, containing bewildered voices exclaiming, "What do you mean he's not there?!" Fun, fun!

My favorite call today was somebody called Prof.B's line, then called mine.
"I'm [FirstName LastName I don't recognize]. When is [Prof.B.] going to be back."
"Uh, he's out of the office today and I'm not sure if he'll be in the rest of the week."
"Well I don't need to talk to him today. What I really want to know is when he'll be back in the fall for teaching."
"He's not teaching this fall. He's teaching in the spring.... He'll be around this fall, just not teaching."
"Okay. Well I guess I'll just send him an e-mail then."
"Yeah, that would probably be the best way to get in touch with him."

This is slightly paraphrased since I'm going off memory but yeah... way to be useless, Mr. Caller Person.
