One of my dreams/goals is to have a big, crazy-ass 30th birthday in Las Vegas. Monumental. Legendary (not for the lactose intolerant!). All the crazy trappings.

Still, #2 on that list, and a good idea for possibly another birthday, is to go down to Florida for Yankees' Spring training, and see my team play a game on my birthday.

(Granted, I know that getting tickets to games at Legends Field is about as easy as getting struck by lighting, but it'd be worth a shot, no?)

I've had Yankees on the brain ever since I saw the t-shirt in urban outfitters that said I [Yankee symbol] New York. If it hadn't been overpriced, I would have gotten it. I might yet still.

I'm trying to talk Eric into going up to Montréal for his 30th in March. We shall see if he does it.

Thanks! I picked up a trove of UB icons over the weekend, from various sources. I am also now all caught up.

Did you watch this week's episode?

It was funny as hell, but mostly filler. (Also, can she DTMA so she can get with Henry? I mean, really.)

It was apparently a show that was taped and meant for some time ago, and so they just kind of edited it to be a flashback.

That makes sense. They probably wanted to get to the jucier stuff first.

Hi, I'm a random person who wandered over to your journal via [livejournal.com profile] newyorkers. I'm going to spring training this year, so here's a few tips for getting tickets that I've learned. Tickets sell out for games the same day they go on sale, so buying tickets from a season ticket holder before they go on sale to the general public is an option (via StubHub). This isn't cheap- we're talking from $150-200 for a decent pair of tickets. That's high demand and low quantity of available seats for you.

The upside is that JetBlue has many flights from JFK to Tampa, and there are some reasonably priced hotels in the area. We picked the swanky (ha!) Holiday Inn Express, at the recommendation of a sports writer that my husband corresponds with who goes to spring training each year.

There are also tons of games in other areas of Florida that are within driving distance, such as Orlando and Fort Meyers. Plus, there's Universal Studios, Disneyworld, the Dali Museum, etc.

Too much rambling from me, too early in the morning. Hope this is useful info for you!

I recognize your journal name from the comm! Hi!

Thanks very much for all of the tips - I'll keep this in mind. I've never been to Florida ever, so if I did something like this, I might stay one night in Tampa for the game, then continue on to the Keys or Miami something like that. Let me know what you think of the whole experience - I've always wanted to go to a game on my bday (March 11). And thanks again!

P.S. What are your plans for the first week of February? We should make plans to get together... :)

Oh, you're totally invited. :) That's not even a question!!

What are the exact dates you'll be here? I'll make sure that I am available. We can even have a little belated bday celebration for you, or as my friend Ryan is fond of saying, your birthday (observed).

OK, so I arrive late on January 31st and leave mid-morning on the 6th. The only plans that we have for any specific night is Feb. 5th, which is M's birthday. So let me know what you think. Sorry to leave this so open-ended, but I'm overwhelmed with ideas on what to do while I'm in NYC. Anyway, email me at my gmail acct sometime and we'll figure out a plan.:)
