The Oscar Nominations are out.

Some of the choices did not surprise me. But a few did (hooray for Little Miss Sunshine!). I suppose I'll now have to suck it up and see Babel, even though I'm sure it's Crash II: International Boogaloo. I definitely want to see Letters from Iwo Jima and The Queen. I also must make sure to see Pan's Labyrinth, as it was nominated for Best Foreign film and Best Original Screenplay (as well as a few other technical awards). Children of Men also got a couple of nominations, which is just as exciting. Any time a genre film makes good like that, I get all bursty with pride. I'm kind of bummed, albeit not surprised, that Dreamgirls wasn't nominated for best picture, even though Eddie Murphy and Jennifer Hudson both got nominated (Kelly Clarkson must be pitching a fit).

So, if anyone has interest in seeing the 3 remaining films, let me know - I believe [livejournal.com profile] alcestis said she'd like to see The Queen.

Also : Be sure to vote in my poll!!!

As far as Best Picture nominees, I'd like to see The Queen and Babel (I guess... I'm with you on that one). I have no desire to see Letters..., though -- war movies aren't my bag, baby. And also Little Children... and Pan's Labyrinth...

I'm up for seeing The Queen. "Babel" wasn't bad... definitely a step up from Crash, though not too much.
