Sometimes, I hate it when I'm right.

Apparently, I *do* have a sinus infection. Which means four days of prednizone to hopefully decongest me, and FOURTEEN FUCKING DAYS of antibiotics. (And a return trip to visit my doctor next saturday. joy!) Granted, I don't feel that fantastic, but I don't feel sick enough to be a total shut in. And yes, I can still go out and do some things, I can't do as much. And I'll be nice and draggy to boot.

I *will* be well enough to go to work, though. Oh, thundering joy.

At least I'll be done with this crap by my birthday. I'd BETTER BE, at any rate. Not getting to party on your own birthday is beyond the suck, let me tell you.

Right now I'm at my parents house. We're going to have dinner and I'm going to hang around for awhile, but for some reason I have a powerful desire to spend tonight in my own bed.

Maybe I'll get more writing done this way. We'll see. I had big breakthroughs on one fanfic and one non-fanfic project, so I'm trying to find a silver lining.

(also, if anyone in the NY-are who can read this subscribes to New York magazine and is looking to get rid of some old issues, could you send them my way? I need them for a project. Thanks!)

Is there any way for you to take one of those synthetic, 4-day antibiotic packs? I'm allergic to both penicillin and sulfa drugs (NOT fun finding that one out, let me tellya...), so I usually end up taking a synthetic like Zithromax. I have no idea if this is possible or doable, but it's something. 14 days is a damned long time. :(

Sadly, no. Believe me, I asked, and according to my doctor, because the sinus cavity is one of the most difficult ones to reach via the bloodstream, the only way to really deal with a sinus infection properly is on a traditional long-term course. :P

(And I know it's true. When I was put on Zithromax back in college for a sinus infection, it only went away partially for a short time then came back with a vengeance before I was put on the heavy stuff, which eventually kicked it out. Blah.)

It's a generic version of Biaxin (Clarithramicin). Plus, he put me on a course of prednisone to help with the decongesting (it works, even if it's kicking the shit out of me.)

I hate predisone. Any time I have to have contrast studies done they make me take it. Grrr. Feel mucho better. If you want old New Yorkers I have those, but not New York magazine.

I was getting a ton of sinus infections this year until I started occasionally using this stuff called Ocean - it's just a saline spray but it's worked wonders. Not sure if it'd be any help but figured I'd throw it out there. Get well soon!

I use Ayr, which is similar to Ocean. It helps to a degree.
